Valentine’s Day Themed Party

We celebrated Valentine’s Day early this year.

valentines day

My daughter turned 9 and we decided to have a “Love” themed party. This was an easy theme to do because Valentine’s Day is right around the corner. I was on a mission to save so we hit the local Dollar Tree. We were able to pick up plates, napkins, silverware, cups and streamers all with a Valentine’s Day theme and a lovely red color.  I paid under $10 and that gave me enough dishes for snacks and cake for 20 people.

To further curb the party spending, I scheduled it for 3:00 PM. This meant I only needed to have light snacks and beverages instead of serving lunch or dinner. I also saved money by baking and decorating my daughter’s birthday cake. You can read about that here.

I wanted to serve snacks that suited both adults and children. For the kids I selected carrots and dip, chips, and pretzels. All of which I bought on sale. For the adults I stepped it up with Baked Brie and Raspberry Preserves and delicious Valentine’s Day cookies. This was my first time making Baked Brie and it was a huge success. I served it with delicious pretzel crackers.
