In the past I have shopped at ALDI for many of my perishable groceries, but I never really considered them for my baby’s needs. I was recently reintroduced to ALDI via a Back to School supply drive. Little Journey has been exactly what this tired mom of three needed to meet all of my family’s needs and not just the loudest most immediate ones. After my eyes were opened to all they had to offer for back to school supplies, I realized that they also have exactly what I am looking for in the next step for feeding the baby. He is finally getting a bit of attention one on one from me now that the older kids are back in school, and I’m excited to start trying new things with him. Luckily with the selection, prices, and quality being so fantastic at ALDI we have been able to try all kinds of new flavor combinations with food. ALDI has truly become a one stop shop for our family.

Because I work at home meals are essentially to me. I’m at a loss a lot of days what to make myself for lunch. Aldi’s has so many great products that it makes pulling together a quick lunch a cinch.
Today I grabbed my spring mix salad out of the fridge. To this I added 3 different cheeses. I added havarti, brie, and a honey goat cheese. This gave my salad a nice little zing. After much thought I went back to my fridge and added bits of a granny smith apple, red grapes, grape tomatoes sliced and some sliced cucumber. Then you can choose to add meat if you want. I left the salad just the way it was. With all the cheese I’m not sure I needed anymore protein. It was a yummy salad that is good for me and my waistline.
When you work from home lunches can tend to get boring if you don’t spice things up. Try getting new products you’ve never used and add them to your next lunch. I had never had brie cheese or honey goat cheese and they were great additions to this salad. This yummy lunch only cost me $2.21 per serving. I could have eaten at least 4 more salads this week with it too! What’s your favorite salad topping?

Well, I think I need to add 5 things to my original list of 10 things you need to know about Aldi. I went shop
ping there and here are the things I wished someone told me.
1) You will see that they have a great line of organic products.
2) You need a quarter or you are not getting a cart – They lock them up and only a quarter will release them.
3) You get your quarter back when you return your cart – That is why the lady didn’t give me her cart instead she scurried past me and locked it up to retrieve her quarter.
4) They do not bag your groceries – They put them back in your cart with out bags. You should not bring all your groceries out to your car without having them in bags. That is what the huge counter is for behind the cashier. If you chose to do this like I did. Then you will be the subject of everyone staring at you wondering why you didn’t see the huge counter that is supposed to be used for this task.
5) When you leave the store they have the preview for next week – If I lived near the Aldi store then I would go get that flyer so I know what not to buy this week and what to wait to buy during the following week. (I live 45 minutes away but I found that I saved enough to do 3 weeks of grocery shopping for $250.00)
Topic: Aldi tips
I was recently asked to fly to Chicago to go to Aldi’s home office and to learn more about their brand. As a result, I learned 10 Things You Need To Know About Aldi. I have, to be honest, what I thought I knew was wrong. I really didn’t understand what they were or what they did. I didn’t even know why I was asked to go since I had never shopped there before. The answered was revealed and I will share it with you later.
This is what I imagined a traditional grocery store.
Fact #1 – Aldi is not a traditional grocery store. That means they do not have multiple brands of certain items.
Fact #2 – Aldi believes the product or products they bring to their store are the best example of that product based on taste and price.
I tried their brand against more expensive and sometime national brands in a taste test.
