Five Things You Need To Change To Be Happy

How to be happy

How to be happy?

I was recently asked, “Why are you so happy all the time?” It got me thinking. I used to not be so happy. I had a couple of things that changed my life for the better. I realized life isn’t a given it is a gift. I began to understand every minute or second we have if indeed an opportunity to make a change. This is the answer to how to be happy?

If you keep doing what you have always done you will always be in the same place. The five things you need to change right now are :

How to be happy

1) How you feel about yourself

2) How you allow people to treat you

3) How you determine what is important

4) The way you communicate

5) The goals you have for yourself

Let’s explore the first thing. How do you feel about yourself? Can you look at yourself in the mirror and like what you see? Do you feel good about who you are? I had a friend post recently that she felt less than someone else. They were more educated than her and more professionally accomplished. I reminded her that it isn’t what or who you know. It isn’t what you own or where you have been. It is really about how you treat others. People who are helpful and kind are welcomed by anyone. I believe being yourself is the greatest gift you can give. Let’s face it there isn’t anyone like you. I give you permission to embrace and celebrate who you are.

I have seen it time and time again someone is being treated badly by someone else. You are allowing that to happen it is true. If you aren’t around or you no longer put up with it they can’t treat you like that. I say surround yourself with people that lift you up. If you do not know what that looks like or feels like than get help. If talking to or being with that person brings on a sense of anxiety than please get out of that relationship. We have all had a friend or lover that drained our awesome. You need your awesome move on and find someone that loves, respects, and embraces you!

Know what is important. Important things are different to each one of us. It is more important to me that my children know they are loved than buying them random junk. It is more important to me that we pay for their school than splurge on Disney. We even said, No to Disney. It is more important to me to hold my husbands hand and sit outside and talk than dining in a fancy place. It is more important to me to show my children how to give than receive. It is important to me to take a moment each day to be thankful. It is important to me to try to act with kindness which isn’t always easy than to be right. What is important is up to you but do not get caught up in things that are not important because it is wasteful and you aren’t wasteful.

I have been reading a book called

The Heart of the 5 Love Languages

I am learning how to communicate what I want and need in a way that the people I love will not only hear it but take action. It is often a struggle to get what you need but that is because you weren’t saying what you need in the correct way. I am learning to be more direct and logical then emotional. It is a hard journey but the success is worthwhile.

The fifth and final way to get happy is to have goal. A goal is something that is measurable. If you were trying to determine if you were happy. Then you would define what happiness is to you. Then what it takes to be happy. This is my happy goal. I will read for thirty minutes a day without being bothered. This is my book list to read for 2015 I just love to read in case you are also a book nerd. I will do so daily. This will lead to my happiness because reading is something that makes me happy. It is hard to achieve happiness without defining what it is to you. You need to have goals that you can accomplished based on your actions. You can’t make goals that rely on others like I will be happy if he is nicer to me. That isn’t a goal you can control so it isn’t achievable your goal should be something you can do. I will bake once a week because I like how the house smells and then I will give the baked goods to a friend to pay it forward because paying it forward makes me happy.

Happiness is actionable if you define what it is that makes you the happiest. What is it that makes you happy?

Grey cowboy boots with sparkle

Amee

I know some girls dream of princes I dream of Frye cowboy boots for women. I know that Frye boots promotion hardly ever come up. I am honestly not sure where this boot problem came from since I lived most of my life in Florida and we didn’t wear boots. I can tell you I fell in love with these boots. The problem was they are expensive. They were so much money that after turning over to look at the price I put them down like they were on fire. Then I picked them up and asked to try them on. I tried them on. I fell in love and I gave them back to the clerk. The reason was simple I could throw on my credit card but I could pay off my credit card with them on there.

I left the store over a year ago. I went online and tried to find them. I spent the next year saving for them. Then I didn’t realize how hard it was to find them. I had a game I played with myself for a year. The do you need that or do you want those Frye cowboy boots for women more. There were time the answer was yes and times the answers were no. I would come home and put the money I saved in the safe. It was sometimes $3.00 and sometimes $30.00. It was birthday money and wow, I saved using coupons money. It was hard earned money. I knew one thing those boots were made for walking and I was going to have them.

I guess I fell in love with the pearls and the fact that I had never seen Grey Frye Cowboy boots before. Well, I am pleased to announce that I bought my Frye boots. It took over one year but I did it. I even caught my Frye boots on sale I got 15% off. I love how they fit. The leather is subtle and not stiff. The boots hit on my mid calf. They are not heavy and they are very comfy.  They are remarkable You can see what I paid minus 15% by clicking on the pink text below. I am proud of myself for sticking to my goal. It is easy to use a credit card it is harder to actually not buy stuff so you can buy what you really want. What am I saving for next. Well, I am saving for a Rolex. I assume it will take me several years but if you want something you have to work to buy it. You have to give up things to get what you really want. I know one thing I love my boots and I love knowing I paid cash. I should not prior to buying them I paid the extra money the 15% I saved into my children’s college fund.

Like Twice Review

Amee

I must admit I love to get stuff in the mail. I know gasp. I also am addicted to shopping.  I am addicted to frugal fashion finds. Thus having a deal site makes sense. I know that I can get better deals on the internet than in the stores. I also know what brands look good on me and how to score them for 50% or more off their retail price. I recently went to lunch with another blogger and she shared this awesome site Like Twice. I thought oh she looks cute I am positive this is something I should check out for you.

I went to their site and I signed up for a free $10 credit. You can see my jcrew jacket that I got for $10 off was a real deal. I got my jacket quickly and it looked just like the picture. It fit perfectly and I love it. I am going to shop there all the time. Twice consignment is my new favorite store. I am even going to consign my own clothes on there. It is so much easier to find nearly new clothing on their site then searching the racks of goodwill. I also know they are in great condition and will arrive nicely packaged. This site is the real deal. I suggest you sign up while they give you $10 off your first purchase. I am sure you can find something cute!

Fashion Friday: Nail art

Amee

I am a fashion girl. I have had my nails done for a year now. I know I am addicted. I am also addicted to having a reason to get out of the house and get a little bit of me time. It is worth the $15 for the fill. I have been looking at the nail art forever. I just can’t justify the expense of the design. I had a bit of inspiration from my daughter. she puts stickers on everything. I decided sticker on my nails would be perfect. The question I had was will they last? Do they look good? Can I do them myself?

The answer is they are so easy to apply. Yes, I did them myself. I found that if you put on clear polish on the top then they stay. The picture above is my nails after a week . I have a crazy life with three kids and I type all the time. The kiss stickers lasted! I love them. You can grab them off amazon or at walmart! They look so good my husband asked how much they cost in that I am going to get on your case kinda of voice. I told him the whole pack was under $5.00 and I have enough for three or four more applications. He just smiled. I guess the deal blogger wins this round! The nail polish is OPI Yodel Me On My Cell. Try it just know you can remove them with nail polish remover.

Fashion Friday: Feria

Photobucket

I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can’t see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato’s closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast!

I decided to try to color my hair again by myself. I selected feria shade 41. The photograph above is of my hair that I had professional dyed. I had highlights. It has been a couple of month. I am sure like many of you this month money is tight. I think back to school should be bank draining month. I have a lot grey hair which I attribute to my type A personality and my children’s ability to create a tornado within minutes of their arrival. I have colored by hair over the years but I had never tried feria before. This dye is made by Loreal paris.

It said you needed to leave it in for 25 minutes which had me a little worried since my grey hairs are very tough to dye. I even did 27 minutes just in case.I was right the colored didn’t penetrate them. I believe that my hair has a nice texture and it doesn’t smell. I was not happy with the overall color. The color also remained on some places on my scalp. I had to rewash my hair to get it out. I wasn’t happy with the way the color deposited on my hair. It was cheaper than my normal hair routine but I think I am going to save up to go back to my professional hair dresser because it didn’t cover my grey. I am aware that red is hard to do and that my hair is pretty dark so I wasn’t expected the color on the box but I was expected better results. I would suggest Feria if you do not have grey hairs.

You can see my hair color last week in this video Designer dresses for less. I was dressed by the stars of Project Runway.

Fashion Friday: Designer Dresses for LESS

Photobucket

I promised I would show you what I bought during my project Runway and Lifetime shopping spree. I was so excited to be at Lord and Taylors in New York City with some of the cast of Project Runway. I love dresses. I can’t help myself you always look like a lady in a dress. They are easy to wear and affordable. I ran to the sales rack. I know that at Lord and Taylors they always have great dresses and I could find a couple on my tight budget of $200. I do need to add I was given a 25% off VIP card to help. Do you know what you get when you give a “deal blogger” a coupon and a gift certificate. You need to watch the video below to see how many dresses I bought and how much money I spent. I can tell you I was so excited by my purchases that I have planned places so I can wear them! If you want to read about my Project Runway Experience.
