Karla’s Korner: Put the Ugly Words Away

Ugly Words

Put the Ugly Words Away…

This past week I read an online news article about an animal rescue operation who successfully rescued 1,000 chickens from slaughter. This rescue operation had secured a flight, yes a flight, for said chickens and would be flying them across country to their new forever home where they would roam free and live out the remainder of their days in New York hopping on hay bales and frolicking in the sunshine. The chickens, all hens, were part of an egg producing farm and were “spent” meaning their egg producing days were over. What do you think he is smiling about? Leave a comment below and tell us.

This Wordless Wednesday picture was taken with my Samsung Galaxy S4 .

I received the Samsung Galaxy S4  from Samsung for review.

Check out our other Wordless Wednesday Photos.

My children wanted to help me cook but often found that I was too busy to keep explaining what they needed to do.  This simple measurement conversion chart makes cooking go faster because with one glance I know how I can convert the measurement. I also have started making my children figure things out for themselves by looking at the chart and then measuring our what they need.

Karla’s Korner: Allowing our Children to Grow Up

Allowing our Children to Grow Up….

Two years ago this week I sat down in front of my computer with my eyes so full of tears I could barely see and an ache in my heart so deep I thought I could barely stand it. I had just taken my daughter to college for the first time. This week my girl loaded up her car kissed me good-bye and set out to move herself and most of her things to college by herself. I followed the next day with a few boxes she couldn’t fit in her car, an envelope with some spending money in it and her guitar. Two years has certainly changed things. She has proven that she can take care of herself and although she does things differently than I do at times I understand that she has earned the right to do so.Continue reading
