Kid-Friendly Alaska Cod Healthy Fish Tacos Recipe

Easter is quickly approaching, and I want to do something different. We like to fish, and I saw our local market on Friday’s have a fish Friday sale and thought about making a kid-friendly meal with my daughter for this coming Easter Sunday. She loves getting in the kitchen to bake and cook so I knew we could make this meal together. We went to the market, and I found a beautiful filet of wild Alaska cod. I knew that it would be perfect for my Healthy Fish Tacos Recipe that my daughter loves. We then toured the salad bar to try some new toppings for our fish tacos. We had a blast trying some new foods together too!

When you shop for fish, just make sure you ask for Wild-Caught Alaska whitefish, like (halibut, sablefish (black cod), sole, Alaska pollock or cod, fresh or frozen). Healthy and Easy Fish Tacos Recipe using Alaska Cod

Ingredients:

  • 1 Filet wild Alaska cod
  • 3 Tablespoons of taco seasoning
  • Olive oil

Topping suggestions

  • red cabbage
  • carrots
  • radishes
  • corn
  • avocados
  • red onions
  • tomatoes
  • romaine
  • limes

Easy Fish Taco Sauce Mayo

  • 1/2 c mayo
  • 1/2 sour cream
  • 1/2 tablespoon of lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon of chopped cilantro

Directions:

1. Put a tablespoon or two of olive oil in a good frying pan and heat to medium-low.

2. In a plastic bag, toss 3 tablespoons of taco seasoning then add your wild Alaska cod, zip up and shake. Get your kids to help you out with this! They will love getting time with you in the kitchen.

3. Next, carefully add the wild Alaska cod to the hot pan and let it cook for about 4 minutes on each side. Check the inside to be sure it is fully cooked. Depending on the size if it is very thick, you might want to cook it a little longer. Once it is completely cooked, you should be able to shred it with your fork easily.

For the sauce, just mix all the above ingredients and drizzle on top of your wild Alaska cod along with any other toppings you wish.
