Using Noodle to Find the Best Preschool

Disclosure:This story is the result of a collaboration with innovative team at Noodle. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

What is Noodle and how can I use it to find the best preschool?

Think of Noodle as the Google for finding great schools. It is basically a big database that takes  a ton of really great information about schools from all over the country and then gives you a way to search through all of that information to help you locate the best school for your child.  The folks at Noodle really understand all of the time and energy that parents and caregivers put into finding schools. They also understand our concerns and needs when it comes to determining which school is the best place for our children and our families. I am very excited to share with you how to use Noodle because I think it is the BEST tool for conducting a school search at every level of education from preschool to college.

How to use noodle to search for a preschool

Let me be honest from the get go and let you know that we are actually a homeschooling family. So why in the world am I writing an article on how to find the best preschool for your young child? Well, let me share another truth….I am a bit intimidated at the idea of homeschooling my preschooler even though we have been homeschooling our older child for the past 2 years. So what exactly is so scary about a preschooler? So when we started homeschooling my now 4th grade son already knew how to read. Teaching and learning gets so much easier once a child learns how to read at least that is how I feel. A reader can start to do some learning independently. A reader can read instructions and begin a task without direct instruction from the teacher. A reader can read a book to themselves. Teaching a child to read is in itself a daunting task to me and also how to find all the time  for direct instruction as a WAHM could prove to be too much. Let me also share with you that while we have chosen to homeschool we realize that it may not always be the best choice for our family. We have decided to stay open minded and reevaluate our decision to homeschool at minimum on a yearly basis. I believe every family has to do the best they can with what they have in the season of life they are in.  Whether that is public, private, homeschool, or some other style of education so if it is what you feel is best for your student and your family then I applaud you and support your decision. To settle my doubting mind and uncertain uneasy heart I decided to be prepared to make a change if I determined that homeschooling was not the best option for my preschooler.toddler-room-569199_1280

Fortunately, I was able to spend some time at the Noodle Headquarters in New York this past summer. At the time, I did not think I would ever need the school search service Noodle has created but I truly believe that we are sometimes put where we need to be and feel very fortunate to have had the opportunity to learn about this tool. So here I am several months later jumping in to a Noodle search to find the best preschool options just in case I need them. I though I would give our readers a peak over my shoulder as I complete my search for preschools in my city.
