How To Create A Decadent 3 Course Meal On A Budget
You guys, I have some exciting news! Recently we found out that my daughter (who has just moved to a brand new school in a whole new town) was one of only two 3rd graders in her school to get cast in her musical theater production this year. This means that in a few short months she will be on her way to Atlanta without me for 4 days to enjoy the Junior Theater Festival and perform for awards and trophies. How exciting is that right? I was thrilled because she is usually such a shy kid and I really think this is going to bring her out of her shell and hopefully make some great friends.
Once I heard the news I knew that I had to plan a special dinner just for her. The problem is, we just bought a house and we just paid off a trip to Disney World for fall break. So this means that we are a little tight on money. Lucky for me I found out that we have a Save-A-Lot in our new hometown and I know that they have great brands at great prices! So I took my daughter with me to pick out all the things she wanted for her special meal. A special meal on a budget that is!
Here is how I created a decadent three course meal on a budget:
First, you have to decide what “decadent” means to you. For an 8 year old it means Triple Pepperoni Pizza, Bacon Mac n’ Cheese and cheesecake. I was super excited to try out the new America’s Choice® Creations line of yummy food that is now available at Save-A-Lot. The prices were great (we didn’t get anything over $8 and that included crab cakes!). We grabbed a Supreme Pizza and Crab Cakes for the adults too. It was a huge meal for 4 people for under $40. No way could we have gone out to eat for that price, and we got to stay in our Pjs and have some fun at home with this meal.
The Pizza was my favorite food item that we tried. It was SO cheesy and the pepperoni was added in 3 different ways. My daughter loved the Mac n’ Cheese, and everyone was all about the cheesecake. It was nice to be able to have a big meal with my family without spending a ton of money, and without sacrificing flavor and taste. All in all, it was a great night with my family, and I love any reason to celebrate!
