Crockpot Oatmeal Recipe

Wake up to a warm breakfast with this Recipe for Crockpot Oatmeal

Today Gwendolyn shares with us her Crockpot Oatmeal Recipe!

With school starting our mornings have taken on order and function vs. laziness and fast food. One of the changes we made was to eat breakfast at home and to eat it every morning. For the kids eating at home was easier than for my husband and I. Oatmeal is a favorite for us but cooking it every morning gets tedious so I decided to give Crockpot Oatmeal a try.

Ingredients:

  • 3 cups Old Fashioned Oats (NOT Quick Oats)
  • 8 cups of Water
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar
  • Vanilla and Cinnamon (optional to taste)

In the Crock Pot I combined 8 cups of water and 2 cups of the Oats. I gently stirred in the brown sugar and added about 1 tsp. vanilla and 1 tsp. cinnamon. You can omit if you would prefer it plain or add other spices you like in your oatmeal.
I left it till this morning when I poured in the last cup of Oats and stirred. I did this right after waking so by the time I sat down to breakfast it was ready to eat.

I did make the mistake of putting it on too early last night and it cooked for about 12 hours. Next time I will put it on right before I go to bed and aim for around 8-9 hours.

Feel free to add fresh fruit, milk, sugar, chopped apples, chopped walnuts or any other topping you like with your oatmeal.

I had leftovers so I put in a covered bowl and stored in the fridge to heat up for breakfast the rest of the week.

Thanks Gwendolyn for this awesome recipe!

Hi I’m Gwendolyn and I have been a stay at home mom since 2009. I have been with my husband, James, for 10 years and we are proud parents of Jayme (8) and Nicholas (13). We are also parents to 3 dogs, 2 cats, 2 hamsters, and a snake. My father-in-law lives with us so it is always non-stop at our house. I had the honor of becoming a step-parent when I got married and have a great relationship with my step-son. I always used coupons and shopped for bargains but was forced to step up my game when my husband was disabled in 2005. I get an incredible rush from saving money and finding great deals. My life is a constant journey and I look forward to sharing it with you all.
