Crafting with Kids: Projects in a Pinch

Busy.

That one word sums up life these days for pretty much everyone I know (and I’m sure most of you too). I am very thankful that our lives aren’t as busy as some others I know but, we do have our spurts where it seems like we are only home long enough to sleep. Sometimes it feels like we don’t even have time to go home to sleep.

It is so hard to get household chores and projects done during the busiest of times let alone do an art project with the kids.

I have noticed that my kids are much more interested in doing art projects when I feel like I don’t have time to do them. Still haven’t figured out why but, it just seems to be how it works.

That is where the foam art kits come in handy.

What are foam art kits?

These project kits come with all of the pieces you need to create the project. Most of them have a backing you can pull off to reveal a sticky back. This means they are great for the younger kids whom you wouldn’t want to leave a glue bottle with. The sticky back is also handy if they are becoming very independent and just plain old don’t want help.

Why I love them.

I love the free-for-all of them. Yes, they come with all the necessary pieces but, your child is more than welcome to add whatever their little heart desires (like these and these). This way the projects can be as long or as short as you have time for and no prep is needed at all.

Keep them on hand.

I try to keep a few of these kits on hand at all times. Varying project types and levels.  I even try to just keep cardstock in the cupboard so they can make their own mosaic with these shapes

This way, when I don’t really have time to sit and help with the glue or cutting things out we can still spend a few minutes together.
