This weekend my family is celebrating my Dad’s Birthday! His…30th….Birthday…yeah..Ha! Every year he requests an Italian Cream Cake as his birthday treat, and every year we scour the stores to find one. (They are actually pretty hard to find around here!). But truth be told we shouldn’t be getting him this indulgent cake every year. Why? Well, he is diabetic. Now you see the problem right? I didn’t want to deprive my dad of his favorite cake, so I thought this year I would try to make some Skinny Italian Cream Cheese Frosting Cupcakes! Are cupcakes good for you? Nope. Are these cupcakes better for you than a big slice of traditional Italian Cream Cake? Absolutely! Continue reading
We have always boiled our corn because the thought of cooking it on the barbecue grill has always seemed like so much work. I also was worried that it would end up under cooked, over cooked or simply burnt. Then I received my grill to review from Rec Tec Grills. If you haven’t read my review of the grill I received make sure you stop over and read it here – Rec Tec Grills Review. Since I can set the temperature on my Rec Tec Grill, my daughter and I decided that we would tackle this Grilled Corn Outdoor Cooking Recipes For Kids together. The ingredients were simple and I had everything I needed right at home. The recipe was easy to prepare and it was a perfect way to get my daughter involved in the kitchen. The cooked up nice and simple on the grill and they were perfect in every bite. I will never boil my corn again. Continue reading
One of the best kid friendly recipe that most adults love too is definitely mac and cheese. It’s one of my comfort food, the creamier and cheesier it is the better! Growing up, I have already tried different versions of this recipe but today I’m sharing with you one of family’s recent favorites, it’s a Crock Pot Macaroni and Cheese. You know how life is easier with crock pot, so this recipe is perfect for busy moms and a perfect recipe kids can make any time. I promise you this recipe makes our traditional mac and cheese taste so much better.
Many children do not want to eat chicken that is not breaded and in the shape of a nugget, dinosaur, or other fun shape. My daughter is the same unless it is covered in ketchup. I do not understand how she can ruin a perfectly tasty chicken recipe with a pile of ketchup but she insists it tastes better. I think she likes it because it covers up the taste of any seasonings or marinades that might be on the chicken because I never see her dip “fried” chicken in ketchup. We recently received a new grill from Rec Tec Grills and I had her help me prepare the menu for our 1st family barbecue with the new grill. She was super excited to help but nervous when I made her help with the marinades. I wanted her to overcome her fear of some of the spices and realize just because they are not tasty by themselves when you put them together they can create delicious flavors. So this is her Kid Friendly Chicken Recipes. Continue reading
So have you given in and tried cookie butter yet? If not, you have no idea what you are missing out on! I had not tried it until someone, who shall remain nameless (*cough* Gwen*cough*) sent me some in the mail. Oh my word, I had 1 spoon full and was hooked! There are so many different ways to eat cookie butter and this morning my daughter asked me if I could make her a Cookie Butter Shake. Why yes little one, I can and will. After tasting this shake, I now know the kid is brilliant! It was chocoaltely, and thick, and awesome. You have not had a shake quite as yummy as this one is! Bonus, it’s not to bad for you either! (As far as shakes goes of course). Would you like to learn how to make it? Let’s get shaking! Continue reading
