Homemade Sloppy Joes Recipe

Homemade Sloppy Joes Recipe

In my opinion, anything that’s served on a bun or eaten with your hands is the perfect family-friendly meal. I grew up eating Manwich sloppy joes.  Rather than use the canned sloppy joe sauce that is full of sodium, I gave home-made sloppy joes a try.  I used a coupon and got a can of fire-roasted tomatoes for next to nothing, so I built my sloppy joe recipe around those smoky tomatoes.

To make the recipe as healthy as possible, use a ground meat that is naturally low in fat, such as, lean beef, turkey, venison, or chicken.   Serve your smoky joe on a whole wheat bun alongside fruit or veggies and you have a quick and easy, updated favorite.

Quick Tailgating Food Ideas

Quick Tailgating Food Ideas

Quick Tailgating Food Ideas

It is Saturday and in my house that is college game day and I need quick tailgating food ideas. Let me tell you the rules for my game day. You must wear your team colors. In our house, they are orange and blue. I believe after my kids learned to say, Mom and Dad, and then I taught them “Go Gators.” I may be exaggerating I did, however, teach them the chomp. Well back to game day. No one sits in my chair. I will not move until the game is over no matter what. If you aren’t prepared to behave then, you can’t eat my snacks.Continue reading

Do you need a quick and delicious recipe that you can make with your leftover holiday ham? I have the perfect leftover ham and cornbread casserole recipe to share with you. Do you know why it is so easy? It’s because you can use the Martha White® Cotton Country Cornbread mix that you have in your cabinet. I have made this with their Mexican cornbread mix and their plain cornbread mix as well. Martha White’s baking mixes are the perfect way to remake that ham into round two of greatness. This baking mix, some water, milk or buttermilk, egg, cheese, peppers, leftover corn or frozen corn, and bacon if you have some will make your leftovers sing a country tune. I love my Martha White baking mixes because they allow you to be the cook you want to be without spending hours in the kitchen, check out my recent Martha White® shopping trip at Kroger. This toss-in recipe will be a family favorite that will have them begging for more. Now you know what you can serve this morning, noon, or night because Martha White makes it for you.

Biscuits and Gravy Casserole Recipe

Biscuits and Gravy Casserole Recipe

biscuits and gravy casserole recipe

Now that Halloween is over, my home has switched in to full holiday mode. Yep, I’m one of those people that don’t mind that it’s the fist week of November and they are already playing Christmas music in the store. I love the feel of the holiday season. Cheer and goodwill, everyone seems to be a little nicer and happy. And I know that I will get to see some extended family that I don’t normally get to see during the rest of the year. Which means that I have a lot of cooking to do during the entire season. Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day cooking wise, and I always like to make a big holiday breakfast for my family. One of my favorite recipes is my Biscuits and Gravy Casserole Recipe! It feeds a crowed, is easy to make, and tastes great. It’s perfect for your next holiday (or anytime really!) meal. I hope you enjoy it as much as my family does. Continue reading

It is that time of year when you want a warm hug from within. You reach for the Folgers in your cup and think today is the day I want a twist on the old classic. I deserve a treat. I have to run the children to school after making sure they have washed, put on clean clothes, flossed and brushed for at least two minutes, I have paid the bills, gotten dinner in the crockpot. It is now my time. You know the time of day that you make something special for yourself, and you sit back and enjoy the memories. You know life is about memories. Continue reading
