Disclosure: I received compensation to help spread the word about the Walmart Holiday Sing to Salute Military Families campaign through The Motherhood Network. All thought ,opinions, and musical renditions are my own. I am happy to #Sing2Salute military families and I sincerely thank them for their sacrifice and wish them all a Merry Christmas.
Service to our country is one of the greatest gifts a person can give. Our service men and women often miss special days with their families so this holiday season let’s all take a few moments to give them a simple gift to thank them for their service. When I think of the holidays I think about the beauty of the season. All of the tinsel and glitter. All of the bright lights. I also think of all the wonderful songs that really do help to make the season bright. So this year let’s all join together to give the gift of cheer to those who sacrifice so much to ensure we have the gift of freedom.
On Giving Tuesday, Dec. 1, Walmart kicked off their Holiday Sing to Salute Military Families campaign with a $500,000 donation to Fisher House Foundation.
For the past 25 years, Fisher Houses have provided a home-away-from-home for military and veterans’ families whose loved ones are in a nearby military or veterans hospital. The $500,000 donation will be distributed among more than 60 U.S.-based Fisher Houses and will be used for home improvements and holiday festivities, including gifts for families and visits from Santa.
From now until to Dec. 22, Walmart is asking everyone to help share holiday songs with military families.
You can help by competing the following steps:
Here is the best part: For each post published on a public Instagram, Twitter or YouTube account with the hashtag #Sing2Salute during the campaign, Walmart will donate $100, up to $1 million, to Fisher House Foundation. The goal is to help Fisher House Foundation fund a full year of lodging for military families staying at Fisher Houses on U.S. military bases. You can learn more about Walmart’s Holiday Sing to Salute Military Families campaign, review rules for participation and see featured videos, by visiting walmart.com/sing2salute.
Join Walmart’s long standing commitment to support our military. Here are some of things Walmart has committed to doing:
Walmart has also launched the Greenlight a Veteran Campaign. This campaign creates an active and visual sign ouf support for Veterans all over the country. Walmart has asked everyone to replace one light in their home with a green light bulb to show their support of our Veterans.
I hope you will join together with Real Advice Gal and Walmart to support our military service men and women and all of their families this holiday season. Post your video with the #Sing2Salute today!
Finding the perfect outfit for every holiday event or occasion can add another layer of stress to your holiday preparations and planning. As a self proclaimed fashionista, I want to look my best all the time whether I am trimming the tree during a casual family get together or sipping champagne at a holiday party. I am so excited to share my holiday fashion find with you! This comfortable and stunning outfit from Monroe and Main can go from an activity with the FAMily to any GLAMourous event this holiday season.
What if I told you you could rock holiday fashion at almost any event this year wearing comfortable jeans? I am serious! Jeans! But not just any pair of jeans, oh no. GOLD JEANS! I have to admit I was a little hesitant to get gold jeans. I have seen them on other fashionistas and loved the look but never thought I could pull it off. Well guess what I did and they look fabulous and you can do gold jeans too!
These glamorous gold jeans are very comfortable and the relaxed fit is flattering for curvier figures. They can be worn with some sparkly black heels for a glamorous evening or black boots for a day of busy family activities. Shorter gals ( I consider myself in that category) will definitely want to add some height with their heels as these jeans wear long. It is nice to find a longer fitting pant that looks great with a heel.
I decided to wear the gold jeans with the crossover rib sweater in black. This cut of this sweater is so beautiful on every body type. The empire waist cut shows off all the right curves in all the right places. It accentuates your assets while slimming through the waist and flowing over the hips. I love this sweater. I love the flowing sleeves that are gathered at the cuffs. So pretty and the perfect piece to pair with bolder bottoms to complete your holiday fashion.
I love the versatility of metallic jeans. Gold jeans look great with black, blue, green, and navy. They can be dressed up or down. I just can’t rave enough about how happy am I am with this look from Monroe and Main.

Crinkle, crackle, crinkle, squeal! The familiar sounds of trick or treat night when all the candy is dumped on the floor and all the kids (ahem and parents too) fish through the loot to find their favorites. Chocolate, taffy, lollipops….SUGAR! We all love Halloween as evidenced by the bazillion Halloween themed posts on Pinterest and I am no different. I love Halloween and trick or treating with my little ghosts and ghoblins as much as the next person. What I do NOT love is ALL that candy. What do you do to rein in the sugar monsters? How do you remove the temptation to indulge in mini chocolate bar after mini chocolate bar. In our house it is the Candy Fairy to the Rescue.
