What To Do When Your Hair Turns 40

What hair products for women are good for 40-year-olds? I can’t believe when you age your hair gets old. I am not sure why I didn’t realize it but I didn’t, and it wasn’t until my hair resembled a brillo pad instead of the chic mane I was used to that I had to do something. I did what anyone with a problem does. I looked for a solution. I ordered BirchBox. I did so knowing it would be a hit or miss experience, but I couldn’t afford to buy each full- size product to try, so I invested $10 a month into finding what works best for me. Then I can share it with you!

Birchbox

I wasn’t sure where to start, so I decided I needed to sample some products to see which worked the best.

What to wear when you are 40?

What to wear when you are 40?

I walked into my closet. Yes, I opened the door and didn’t literally walk into it. I mean entered my closet and I had a melt down. You know the kind where you start to shake like a tree int he wind like your blender when you didn’t put enough water in. I had this overwhelming feeling of yikes!

What do you do when your clothes own you?

I suggest taking this class if fashion really overwhelms you the Adore Your Wardrobe class has helped thousands of women gain control. They look better, and they feel better. If you do not want to be a student, then I suggest you do what I did. I took everything out of my closet, and I put it on my bed. Yes, everything. Yes, it was scary I was afraid mountain clothes was going to get me.

Then I did what I read in The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up. I picked up each item to see if they brought me joy. I made three categories:

1) JOY! JOY! JOY! (meaning it looks good, it is in good shape, it is fashionable, it fits me right now, and I feel great in it)
2) This would look better on someone else; it doesn’t bring me joy
3) This needs to be donated what was I thinking.

I gave myself permission to keep 2 things that had sentimental value. That is it! Two! If I could find a picture of myself wearing it before I had kids in the pile it went!

Holiday Health Tips

We all think of the New Year as the time to get healthy, but really we should be celebrating our health year round. Specifically during the holidays you should be celebrating health and happiness moving into the New Year. What better time of year to start preparation for a fresh start on a new track to attaining a healthier lifestyle? As you start preparing for the New Year, you should make health insurance an important part of your conversation. With open enrollment season upon us it makes sense now more than ever to consider your options and set yourself up for your best possible chances of achieving good health in the New Year.

We are all busy buzzing around making lists and buying gifts in preparation to celebrate another year with the ones we love. The thing that should be at the top of your list is keeping yourself healthy so that you can be there to celebrate many more holidays with those you love. What a better gift to give to them then healthy and happy you?

According to the Center for Disease Control (CDC):

“The United States spends significantly more on health care than any other nation. In 2006, our health care expenditure was over $7,000 per person, more than twice the average of 29 other developed countries. We also have one of the fastest growth rates in health spending, tripling our expenditures since 1990. Yet the average life expectancy in the United States is far below many other nations that spend less on health care each year. As a nation, more than 75% of our health care spending is on people with chronic conditions. These persistent conditions—the nation’s leading causes of death and disability—leave in their wake deaths that could have been prevented, lifelong disability, compromised quality of life, and burgeoning health care costs.”

Chronic conditions such as heart disease, cancer, stroke, diabetes, arthritis, obesity, respiratory disease, and oral conditions, all have contributing factors that can significantly lower the chances of a condition developing if a contributing factor is prevented, handled, or treated properly in advance of illness. Preventative factors that can contribute to chronic conditions are lack of physical activity, poor nutrition, tobacco use, and excessive alcohol consumption.

Classic Fashion Tips for Women

The key to dressing nicely isn’t necessarily having a lot of clothes it is knowing how to mix and match what you have. You can see the key to these clothes are the bottoms are solids. The pieces of interest are the accessories and the tops have patterns. These looks are classic and not overdone. You can get additional looks by using the scarf as a belt. I would also wear the flower button down open with the grey tank underneath or depending on the color of the polk a dot shirt you could put that under the flower shirt. It is perfectly fashionable to mix patterns if they are in the same color story.

Fashion tips for women are a must these days! If you aren't sure what to wear, these are a must for you!

Classic Fashion Tips for Women

There are 5 rules of fashion you should always observe.

1) Get clothes that fit. Do not just go for the number on the tag. I always grab a size up and size down in something to make sure that it fits correctly

2) Know what colors look good on you and wear those colors. I look horrible in what I call the Easter colors (pastels) I tend to buy more jewel colors since they look better on me.

3) Wear the right undergarments and make sure we can’t see them

4) Dress up every day you never know who you will meet. I am totally against wearing your Pajamas to the store it is just as easy to throw on one of the looks above.

5) This rule is so important do not be afraid to try new things. Clothes aren’t permanent. If you have a friend that you think is stylish ask for their advice if you do not know what to wear.

Bonus tip: You do not have to spend a lot of money to look great. I challenge myself to buy outfits that are less than $20. I am a huge fan of thrift stores, inexpensive accessories, clothing swaps and stores like Old Navy where you can get great pieces that you can mix and match.
