I don’t know about you, but any time I try to find anything in my purse it’s like pulling teeth. I don’t mean to make it so messy, but somehow I always do. Maybe I can blame it on being a mom, and having to carry around my stuff and my daughters stuff. That seems reasonable right? Well, no matter the reason, it’s time to clean it up and get it organized, and to stop making excuses for having a nasty purse ha!
So here are some great tips for organizing your purse to help you and me!
There are a couple of ways to save your straw hat. I know I really need this post because I frankly ruin my hats. I have kids and they always get crushed. That is why it is so great to know that you can reshape your straw hat.
The first thing you need to do is get gloves, a heat source that will produce steam. You can use a steamer, iron, or a tea pot. Then you will need towels and something heavy to hold down the hat.
Those straw hats can be fixed to its former glory. The way that I reshaped mine was to stuff it with a damp towel. Then I put on my gloves and steamed the hat once it was wet I stretched it and put cans on top of it until it dried.
I have also used this method on how to fix a straw hat You start again with a damp towel and fill the portion of the hat where your head goes. Then you put a damp clothe under the brim of the hat. You then put a towel on top. You turn on the iron on medium heat.
Then you will need to let the hat dry. Do not attempt to put it on until it is dry. You can also put weighted items on the top of the hat until dried. This is a great way rescue those straw hats.

I am a lover of all things fashionable. I do however have a limited budget but I do not want to look like I took a nose dive in the bargain bin. I try each week to find one or two items for under ten dollars to add to my collection. This fashion Friday is all about Fashion Under 10 dollars.
I decided to take on accessories. They are hot these days and they can be pricey. I do love companies like Chole + Isabel they offer wonderful jewelry at affordable prices. I was curious could I find jewelry that was on trend in a big box store? If I did what would I find? Then would I be able to tell the difference?
The answer surprised me. I was able to find on trend jewelry at Walmart. I did pay a lot less than $10 a pair of earrings. You do get what you pay for. I have been eyeing these great earrings by my favorite designer Kate Spade they are on trend and they are a great green color. I found a pair that was the same look not the same quality for less than 10% of the price.
The question to me becomes do you pay for quality? The answer is yes for some things and no for others. The earrings at $2.88 a pair if I wear them a couple of times then they have paid for themselves. They are for fun. Read more of my Fashion Tips on How to Accessorize for less

When I started my journey to health and wellness in November 2013, I weighed 285 pounds and wore an uncomfortable size 28. As I began to lose weight I pulled smaller sized clothes I had stored away thinking it was a waste of money to buy something that I would be wearing for a short time. By March I had lost over 40 pounds and was in need of new clothes because even my “reserves” were too big. I cleaned out my closet and made a trip to Kohl’s. It was at that point I realized just how important it is to update your wardrobe as your weight changes. The smaller clothes fit my body appropriately, highlighted my new figure and gave me a boost of confidence that I so desperately needed. One of my greatest joys on that trip was buying jeans with zippers; something I had not done in many years. The weight continued to fade away and I returned to Kohl’s for the next round of shopping a few months later. That trip brought a new summer wardrobe filled with short sleeves, capris pants and loads of color. Tucked away in the dressing room trying on stylish, colorful clothes that fit my ever changing figure I began to feel pretty and was excited to look pretty too! Feeling more confident than ever I spent the summer working out, eating right and losing more weight. Two more seasons have passed, I’ve lost 90 pounds and it was time to start my spring wardrobe update. Through the generosity of Kohl’s I was able to update my wardrobe with fashionable, affordable, clothes that fit my ever changing figure and boost my confidence as I continue on the journey to meeting my weight loss goals.
It is important to change clothing sizes as our body changes. Losing weight and getting healthy takes a lot of work and dedication and should be celebrated and shown off. Acknowledging weight loss in stages is important as it keeps you motivated, highlights your hard work and helps boost confidence. By holding on to the larger sized clothes I believe it gives us permission to go backward. I used to keep the bigger clothes “just in case” and every time “just in case” became a reality. Why? Because I had the clothes waiting for me to fail. A close friend encouraged me to “burn my ship” explaining that when the settlers came to the new world the king instructed them to burn their ship so they couldn’t return; they had to stay and survive. Getting rid of my “ship” was by far one of the most liberating, exhilarating experiences I’ve had. The “ship” was gone and left in its wake was a closet filled with beautiful colorful clothes I found at Kohl’s; clothes that fit, were stylish, affordable and highlighted the new me. There is no going back.
Here are just some of the brands of clothes that we bought:
My most recent trip to Kohl’s was wonderful not only because Kohl’s graciously sponsored me and that I was able to find great clothes at affordable prices but my best friend went with me. In the eight years we’ve known each other she has never seen me in a dress. As I stepped out of the dressing room in my size XL Simply Vera wrap dress her eyes fill with tears as she searched for words that stuck in the lump in her throat was beyond meaningful. We laughed, cried, smiled a lot and celebrated that I am five sizes smaller than I was when the journey began. Knowing that I have more to lose I am looking forward to my next trip to Kohl’s because I always find clothes that fit me appropriately, are affordable and make me feel and look pretty. Life is so much sweeter these days. I feel incredible and thanks to Kohl’s I can step out confidently in style. No matter where you are on the journey I encourage you to make the investment in new clothes as your body changes knowing that you are worth the investment. A big thank you to Kohl’s for giving me the opportunity and for sharing in my journey.
Are there Clothes that make you thinner? What if I told you there are. I believe that part of taking control of your health by eating right and exercising is to buy new clothes as you reshape your body. I always hear women say when I get “Thinner” I will buy myself something new. I always wonder why. If you worked hard to lose ten pound why wear jeans that are lose or shirts that are now baggy? Why not find clothes that fit and show off your shape. I would like to thank Kohl’s for allowing me to shop for Karla as she becomes the best version of herself and through the journey as she gets there. We have shopped at Kohl’s a couple times now because they have fashionable clothes for women of every size and shape and we believe in celebrating our accomplishments!
So what’s the secret on how to dress thinner? I truly believe that taking care of yourself as you journey toward a new lifestyle is not only important but it is the key to getting “thinner”. You see if you keep the clothes that you used to wear and you do not buy some new clothes you are more likely to go back to your old habit. The first thing I did when Karla decided to make healthy decisions in regards to her health was to support her. I encouraged her daily and celebrated her milestones because I cared about her moral and I knew she needed a cheerleader. Karla only ever wore black, grey, and navy in fact I had never seen her is anything cheerful. It was like she was trapped in despair. She was hiding from the world and trying to blend in. I decided enough was enough, why hide yourself? How about we celebrate where she is in her journey. We did that by shopping at Kohl’s for everything she needs. The first trip we started with fashionable clothes in size 24 and 22 and a year and a couple months later we are at XL and 16. Karla eats healthy and can kick my butt at the gym. I love the prices at Kohl’s and the selection. I was able to make Karla several outfits and save money at the same time. She no longer hides behind her prison of black, grey, and navy. She also now knows that everyday you are alive and healthy is a victory and every victory deserves a great dress. I truly believe buying new clothes as you move towards the journey of your best self not only helps you continue your journey but it allows you to see your progress and appreciate your hard work. It isn’t about your size or your weight but dress well is about having the confidence to believe in yourself. You are beautiful and you deserve to look great. I highly suggest you reward your gains. I was able to create a wardrobe for Karla for $256.18 and she looks awesome. The clothes will look great as she continues to her goal. They are of wonderful quality and when they no longer fit she can consign them. It is a small price to pay to feel good about yourself. They say you must dress for success and I believe that holds true as you journey towards the best version of yourself. I would like to thank Karla for sharing her journey and remind you that she used to get breathless walking up my drive way and now she is running 4 miles! Bravo!
