Building Websites Made Easy

Want to build a website but have no idea where to start? GoDaddy has you covered!

Have you ever wanted to build a website but had no idea where to start? I have had a daydream about building a website as a resource for parents to enjoy Disney just as much as their kids rolling around in my head FOR YEARS. And as many times as I have had other bloggers explain to me exactly how to build a website, my brain just does not seem to understand how any of the tech behind building a site works. I have had my domain name for years through GoDaddy.com and have tried in the past to put together and launch the site using my domain name but got frustrated and gave up. Now that they are offering one month free trial of GoDaddy’s GoCentral Website Builder there was really no reason not to give it a shot!

It was super easy to get started. First they ask you two questions: What is your site about and what is it’s name? With that information it then pulls themes and photos that they believe will be along the lines of what you will need to have a successful site.

From there, you choose the theme that you like best and start customizing. One of the only difficulties I had was with pictures. Since I had this idea a long time ago before I had a nicer camera most of my images were from a cell phone. The pictures turned out pretty amateur looking. The good news is that it was easy enough to insert them into the website so I can go back and change them later when I find nicer photos.

One of my biggest hesitations with jumping into a project like this has always been a lack of “techie” knowledge. Specifically the intimidating world of coding. Luckily, I did not need to know any HTML or coding to make my site work. They take care of all of that for you. Everything you need, from stock photos to fonts is easily accessible… thank goodness! It was so easy in fact, that I was able to get the entire site put together in one hour. I probably could’ve done it even faster if I had clearer photos that I didn’t have to play around with to make it look nice.

Another bonus to this website builder was that the layouts also came with matching mobile site. One thing I dislike about most some sites is that they are not easy to view from your cell phone. As a busy mom of three I often I’m on my phone to look at things and if the site is not easy to navigate on my phone I am quick to leave. It also allowed me to add my social media buttons and an email sign up area which when trying to build an audience (especially with Disney moms) is extremely important.

While I am sure that there is way more to building a successful website and what I was able to accomplish in an hour, I am beyond thrilled to see something up on the website that I have dreamed of launching for years. Since it is free for one month, I will definitely be playing around with all of the features that GoDaddy’s GoCentral Website Builder has to offer. I had never really considered it before, but I also noticed that there was an eCommerce feature to add a GoCentral Online Store with a built-in shopping cart, checkout, and secure payment processing. If it is as easy to set up as the rest of the site, then I will definitely be trying that too. Give it a try, and see if you can’t make your website dreams come true as well!
