A Gift for Granny – The Gift of Sight

Did you know one in four children has an undiagnosed vision problem? Right now when you purchase individual vision insurance from VSP Direct™ as a gift, a child in need receives a free eye exam and glasses. That means when you give the Gift of Sight from VSP, you give twice. Find out more at www.givevspdirect.com/eyegiveback. Thanks to VSP for sponsoring this post.

We recently welcomed the newest addition to our extended family. Meet Sasha!
Meet Sasha One of the many reasons we gave granny the gift of sight

Sasha is the princess of firsts! She is my sister in law’s first baby. She is my husband’s first niece on his side of the family. And she is the first baby girl grand child in my husband’s family. With her welcome into the world we decided to give my mother in law a new photo album to cherish early baby photos of all her grandchildren. She now has three! (My husband and I have 2 boys). We also decided to surprise granny with the Gift of Sight from VSP Vision Care! We don’t want her to miss a moment of her grandchildren growing up! My mother in law is retired and does not have vision insurance so when it comes time to getting an eye exam or buying new prescription lenses I don’t want her to have to worry about it or go without. These sweet grandbabies are too cute not to be able to see every smile!

Why is The Gift of Sight Important?

Personally I have shared with you why it is so important to me to be able to give the gift of sight to my mother in law. I want her to be able to see every precious smile and all the milestones and achievements of her grandchildren. I don’t want her to miss baby’s first smile and steps, her grandson’s first swim meet, or basketball shots! I want her to be able to read bed time stories to all of them! But beyond my own personal reason, the gift of sight is so very important to all individuals. Did you know that 1 in every 4 children has an undetected vision problem? This amounts to about 10 million children having a vision problem that interferes with learning. In fact 20% of children struggle to read because of vision problems. These statistics just break my heart. But with the #EyeGiveBack program that is part of VSP Direct’s commitment to help children in need I can help a child get the eye exam and glasses that they need to be able to succeed in school and in life.

Giving Granny the Gift of Sight

How does the VSP Gift of Sight #EyeGiveBack Program work?

Right now through December 31, 2015 when you give the Gift of Sight you are giving twice! When you purchase a vision insurance plan as a gift, VSP will donate an eye exam and glasses to a child who need this gift to detect and correct vision problems. I am sure you know someone who does not have vision insurance. Think about the good you can do for the special someone you know but also for the good you will be doing in the life of a child who is struggling in school because he or she needs glasses.

Why VSP? What is included with the Gift of Sight?

Purchasing any type of insurance can be a tough decision. You need to know what is included and that you are choosing a good company. I was happy to learn that VSP is the nation’s only not-for-profit vision care company. They offer affordable individual plans in every state. So no matter where your family has spread out to you can still give the Gift of Sight. My mother in law lives in NC and we call VA home. An individual plan covers the eye exam with a low co-payment and provides allowances for glasses and contacts and even fully covered lens options. So the other big question is who are the providers and will there be any providers in my area. There are 30,000 providers in convenient locations within the VSP doctor network. I am sure you still have more questions so take a look at this FAQ document for more answers. Learn More:givevspdirect.com/eyegiveback

I encourage you to Give the Gift of Sight to someone you know and help 2 people at the same time. Your loved one and a child in need! Watch to see how the Gift of Sight can make a difference!
