2012 What I learned

Image of Amee

What did I learn in 2012? I learned to be who I am but not put videos of myself on you tube without makeup. Kidding! Yes, there are several on my channel. If you need a good laugh I learned to being a good mom means being good to yourself. It also means if you can’t get your work done while they are up just put it away and play with your kids. I learned how to use my camera and take blurry pictures on purpose instead of at very important moments that I wanted to document and eventually scrapbook when my children are in their twenties. {The picture above is my self portrait.} I learned to chose my friends more carefully and that sometimes you just need to go to court.

I learned that receiving is overrated compared to giving. I spend a lot of my time trying to figure out how I can give more. I realize that my hard work has allowed me to help other women become successful. I am happy to say that my company employs several people who are also able to provide the extras their family’s need. I have been fortunate enough to win several awards this year and my most recent one… Yahoo Shine’s Female Entrepreneur of the year’s prize will help me to provide new coats to a couple of women in the domestic abuse shelter.I learned that $100 can help a lot of people and I was proud to continue my tradition of helping people this holiday. I was also grateful to some of the sponsors that allowed me to extend my reach.

I learned that cooking every night is not going to happen and breakfast fro dinner is a totally cool choice. I learned to be an example to my children. I hope my daughter and my sons understand that you are only successful if you help those around you.I know they have seen my example and our making the right choices on their own.

I know that no matter how many minutes, days, or weeks, or years that come and go the thing we can count on is right now. I hope you make every moment count. I hope you reach for the stars and grab them. I hope you take the time to help one person today. You never know what you mean to someone and what your kindness can do.

This is what my family learn:

My Husband learned to get me food if I am hungry when we are driving it is easier than listening to me complain and get angry (I have some weird blood sugar thing).

My youngest learned to jump, ABC’s, his numbers through 20, and how to be a big boy

My daughter learned Tap Dancing, how to write some letters, how to sneak candy (brother’s quote) and how to sing Silent Night

My oldest learned Science, Math, and how to use my Iphone

I learned that no matter what I do my achievements aren’t as wonderful as the people in my life.

I hope you have an amazing 2013

Karla’s Korner: Lessons From 2012

I am proud to introduce a new column to Madame Deals! I think we all need a touch point a place we can go to be inspired. Karla is my children’s teacher, a good friend, and a person with a heart of gold. I hope that her words will inspire you to do more. We are only as good as the people we surround ourselves with. It is important to listen with your heart and proceed with your eyes open. Enjoy!

Lessons From 2012

Staring out the window at my neighbor’s yard it almost seems fitting that their deflated Christmas decorations are scattered, windblown and out of place. The holidays are over and nobody really cares if blowup Santa is still sitting upright in the cut-out sleigh or that Joseph is laying down by the manger (after all I’m sure the real Joseph got a little tired standing there waiting for those fellas to show up). We spend so much time getting ready, preparing everything perfectly for Christmas that in the end, we are tired and ready to throw it all back in the box and move into the New Year without stopping to reflect on what the year has meant to us.Continue reading

Beginners Blogging tips

Okay so you want to blog… You need

Beginners Blogging Tips

You need to get LifeLock if your going to be online all the time. You never know people are crazy.. This is totally worth the money.

You need a domain name I suggest Go Daddy for your basic hosting options and your domain. You need to find a name with both the .com and the .net. If you’re just starting and the .com name is not available, keep brainstorming. If a logical spelling isn’t available, keep searching. Don’t expect your readers to remember that you’re only a .net or to remember your clever (in your own mind) misspellings. They won’t, and they’ll wind up at a different site.

It's a BIG DEAL! Get a a $.99 .COM from - 468x60
When your site gets bigger I suggest liquid web hosting I have knocked down 8 hosts with I have a 99.8% rate of up time. The .02% was caused by adding a plug in that crashed my site.. Yes, I did it

For smaller sites, you can use a host such as

WordPress & Go Daddy Hosting – A Winning Combination For Your blog!
with good results. Don’t be tricked into the cheapest hoping you can find, that’s how you run into problems when your site begins to grow.

Go Daddy Web Hosting! A completely unique experience - only  $1.99 / mo from Go Daddy! - 120x60

You need a real email service. Email marketing is effective and you need to start right from the start. Think Feedburner is enough? On average, it takes potential readers at least seven emails before they listen to your message. When you’re only sending your feeds to their inbox, you’re not giving them anything fresh, there’s no incentive for them to open your email right away. I would say you need Mad Mimi. It is who I use for all my businesses and their customer services, services offered, and cost per use is awesome. It is also easy to set up and use. I have to admit I am not at all tech savvy and this is EASY! This is a Beginners Blogging Tip that I wish I would have taken. Email is an amazing way to build a loyal following.

Mad Mimi Email Marketing

You need a web design. I suggest using self-hosted WordPress  right off the bat. I would not start on blogger and move over it is a pain in the neck and it will cost you money to have someone move you unless you are tech savvy. You can have a wordpress design done for less than $200. If you need someone email me at [email protected] subject designer I will point you to the person I use.

You have everything you need. Now you need to focus on what to write. I would get out a calendar and make a plan. I would try to think of a topic that you can write several articles about. Then I would put them in a calendar. I use google calendar but I am buying this one so I can have it available at all times.

Things I Hear and Hope My Kids are Playing Minecraft

Things I Hear and Hope My Kids are Playing Minecraft

My kid have jumped on the Minecraft bandwagon with almost every other kid I know.  They played on our smartphones with the free versions for several months until they talked me into buying the Android App. For Christmas we bought them Visual Land tablets and the first thing they downloaded was the Amazon Appstore so they could get to Minecraft.  It turns out they have more options when playing it on the tablet versus the smartphone. They played for hours without bickering Christmas Day and the day after. For being 14 and 8, this is a major accomplishment and I was glad to see them bonding.

Today my friend’s son came over and all 3 of them immediately decided they were going to play Minecraft. With all 3 kids on tablets and synced in the same world, I sat down at my laptop to get to work. I didn’t get very much done before I began laughing listening to the things they were saying. If I hear them saying these things again, I hope they are playing Minecraft.
