Memories: Making dinner together

Life is so busy. We have jobs and bills and responsibilities. We have homework to help with and laundry to do. We have lists a mile long. I crumbled mine up and decided I need to make memories with my kids. I mean when my children say you work all the time I knew I needed to make a change. I had to put away my laptop and take out my creativity. I think it is easy to forget that you can do something special with a limited amount of time and money. I decided I was going to answer the what is for dinner question. I would do so for under $5.00 and under an hour.

We ran to the store bought everything they would need for their dream pizza. We worked on our math skills to stay under budget. We had a $5.00 budget so we used our coupons and met our goal. The most important thing was the fun we had making our pizza. We talked about what we wanted our pizza to look like and what we wanted in it. We worked on compromise but most importantly we made a memory and a pizza with goldfish crackers.

This series on how to make the most out of the time you have with your children is brought to you by Amee at Madame Deals and Sharon at Mom on Dealz.

The difference between  making memories and another day is the thought you put into your relationships.

Chutzpah: Bad dates or bad communication

Chutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine.

chutzpah Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or confidence, but among Yiddish speakers, it is not a compliment.

I thought I would share a story from my college days. I was talking to one of my friends and we were chatting about the country. I like country music and I think there is a certain sex appeal to cowboys. I did go on a date once with a cowboy. I thought we were going on a nice date. I put on a dress and “girl” shoes. I applied make up and even found a matching purse for my shoes. I was pretty excited. I asked where we were going. He said Outback. I thought cool steak. This is a big deal to a college student. The problem? He meant out back to shoot cans with a gun. Well that date went no where……

Do you have any funny dates to share?
