Easy French Toast Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 large eggs
  • ½ cup lactose-free milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 8 slices sourdough-spelt or gluten-free bread
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Directions

Combine the eggs, milk, and vanilla in a 9″ by 13″ baking dish. Soak the slices of bread in the egg and milk mixture. Sprinkle liberally with cinnamon.

Melt part of the butter over medium heat in a large non-stick pan or griddle. When the butter is bubbling, place a single layer of bread slices in the pan. If there is a little extra egg mixture, pour it into the center of each bread slice in the pan. Cook until the bottom of the toast is golden brown, approximately 2-3 minutes. Flip over and cook the other side until golden brown. Center of toast should puff up slightly when done. Repeat with remaining slices of bread.

Serve warm with 100% pure maple syrup, butter, jam, or fruit.
