Valentines Day Homemade Glitter Play-doh!

Valentines Day Homemade Glitter Play-doh!

Today I’m going to show you how to make a fun, easy, and cheap  homemade Play-Doh! This is something super fun to make with your kids! My 4 year old had a blast!

Here is what you will need (you probably already have these things at home!):

playdough

A mixing bowl
¼ cup of water
1 cup of flour
½ cup of salt
unsweetened Kool-Aid (this is what will add the color and smell!)
Some glitter!

Directions:

Step 1: Add the flour and salt to a bowl (I suggest pouring the flour in yourself if you have little ones helping, it tends to get everywhere haha!)

Step 2: Mix the flour and salt together!

Step 3: Add the water to the mix!

Step 4: Mix all the ingredients together! (It will get very thick, so you might need to help your kids mix, make sure to get all the lumps out!)

This is what it should look like when you are done mixing!

Step 5: Add about ½ a pack of the Kool-Aid mix of your choice. (if the color is to light you can always add more)

Step 6: Mix the Kool-Aid in until the color is where you want it to be, then add the glitter! You can add as much of this as you want, depending on how glittery you want your Play-Doh to be!

Step 7: Put the finished playdoh in the fridge for about 30-45 minutes or until it is no longer sticky.

Step 8:  Enjoy!

So, that’s it! A super easy and fun way to make homemade Play-Doh with your kids! The whole process takes under an hour, and the clean up is pretty minimal (make sure you soak the bowl you made it in, makes it easier to clean out). I do suggest putting a little of the flour on your kids hands before the play with the Play-Doh, it will help the Play-Doh not stick to them :).

This project would make a great Valentines gift for classmates as well! Buy treat bags (the cellophane kind) and knead into balls and drop them in, finish it off with a Valentines themed ribbon and ta-da! Fun to play with, and it won’t make them as hyper as candy! And this doesn’t have to be for just Valentines day either! You could change the colors according to the Holidays, or just make them on a rainy day when the kids are stuck inside all day!

Now that I’ve showed you a craft we love to make, tell me..what is your favorite Holiday Craft to make with your kids???

My children are married and out of the house. But I will be babysitting my 3 year old grandson until there is a spot in preschool! This will keep him busy or hours(I hope). He does love to build things.

We will use cherry kool-aide for Valentine’s Day!!!!!

I remember making play-doh as a kid and having so much fun. To be honest, I kinda forgot about it. Now that my daughter is turning 3, I bet she would have a blast doing this. Love the idea of adding low sugar koolaid.

The Homemade Valentine’s Play Dough is really a nice idea. To add sparkles to it makes it all the more impressing to me. I love Glitter and Sparkle.. My children are all grown now. I will be sure to give this recipe to my daughters for their little ones ..I know they love playdough they are always playing with it.. :0)~~ When my children were young we all worked on putting their Valentines cards together and we made sure we taped a piece of candy to the outside envelope~ ~They loved doing this.. We also baked cookies and brownies putting little valentine pieces of candy on them. Oh how I miss them Simpler Days! Lol!

This kind of seems like a mess waiting to happen lol but I know the kids would love it and it is cheap entertainment they would love and also keep them being creative and awau from technology!
