How to Make Valentine Wreaths

valentine wreath

I decided it would be fun to make Valentine wreaths with my children. This wreath cost less than $10 and took about thirty minutes from start to finish. I completed this Valentine Crafts for Kidsย project with my children both five and under so it is very versatile.

Valentine Wreathsย Materials:

  1. Tulle: 2 yards
  2. Embroidery ring
  3. Tape
  4. Ribbon
  5. Felt
  6. Beads
  7. Needle
  8. Thread

Cut the tulle in three inch threads

Cut the felt in large circles. I use a mug to trace with ๐Ÿ™‚ Cups work as well.

Then open up your hoop and Squish the tulle on it by puncturing it

Valentine wreathย You will continue to do this until the hoop is covered.ย ย You will want to bunch it as much as possible to create fullness

Then you will want to tape it closed

Then you will want to sew on the felt flowers. You can see how I made them, check out my felt flower pattern tutorial <—

You will want to place the thread through the flower. Than loop it around the hoop and through the tulle. Then I loop it through itself and pull. I do this several times to secure it.

valentine wreathThen I just tied a ribbon to hang it up. I made sure I tied it in a bow so that it hung evenly. This Valentine Crafts for Kids: Valentine Wreathsย project was inexpensive and fun and I think it looks adorable.

  6. Susan Harp says

So cute and crafty, a perfect project for kids on either a snow day or a rainy day. And the best part is that it would bring on a child’s creativity, something that seems to get lost these days in our world of electronics.

So adorable! I especially love the felt flower, thank you for the instructions to make my own. ๐Ÿ™‚

  21. rebecca shockley says

Great idea, in fact last year for Christmas I did almost the same thing. I used a Styrofoam plate and some ribbon and lace laying in the drawer. I only used the outer ring of the paper plate and then proceeded to wrap the ribbon/lace in a fashionable way around the entire rim until it was all white and red

  22. Lynn C. says

I’ve always loved tulle, and now I know why. Nothing else has such a playful, delicate, elegant look for such a low price. I think I’ll start incorporating it into crafts, even my jewelry. Thanks for the inspiration, and happy Valentine’s Day to you and your family!

  40. Tyler Calder says

This is lovely and seems fairly simple. I would use different colors of tulle if I were doing this myself. I don’t know why but red white and pink seems nice to me. Or use two colors of tulle and use the third to do the felt flower(s). Either way great idea!

That is super cute!!! You make it look so easy but I am sure I would mess it all up if I tried to do it ๐Ÿ™‚ Maybe I will buy the supplies and just let the kids go at it! Thanks!!

  52. Melanie W. says

Very cute. Since tulle is so see-through if you were worried about the hoop showing through, you could always paint the hoop first. However, with little kids, that has the probability of getting extremely messy very quickly. ๐Ÿ˜‰

  53. Melisa Hennings says

this is an awesome idea! Perfect for me to make with a 13 yr old who loves learning new things, she loves crafts and baking! time to get to cute!!

This is a really good idea to do with the kids. I never would have thought of doing something like that. It is something i think they could do and have fun doing it too.

  58. says

I think I could (mostly) do this! I feel like I could for sure do the tulle piercing/scrunching. Now the felt flowers? Wish me luck! Let’s just say you didn’t see me try to do the bow at Christmas decorating time.

  59. Laurie Nykaza says

This valentine wreath is so cute. I would see making it for my nieces to go in their hair as a little crown too its so cute.

  60. Christine Beasley says

I like the idea, simple and easy for young children to do. I think though I would prefer a smaller hoop or ring for the foundation.

  61. Aimee T says

I think what I like most about this idea is that it isn’t limited to Valentine’s Day. My daughter would cringe at the thought of making a “girlie” wreath but with a few changes, this could be a Christmas wreath!

Another great creative way to keep kids away from technology and use their brains and get those creative juices flowing! lol Also something that we can do with them, because whether they admit it or not, they enjoy spending quality time with us! ๐Ÿ™‚
