Rite Aid & Harris Teeter Shopping Trips

I went to Rite Aid and Harris Teeter today and scored some great deals! The nice thing was I went late this afternoon and things were still in stock. Our local Rite Aid has been great about ordering enough of the freebie items!

Harris Teeter

My transaction at Harris Teeter did not go as planned but it turned out well for me in the long run! I am not going to write out everything pictured but I did want to point out the General Mills Promo and the Old Orchard Juice.

B2G3 Free Old Orchard Juice, reg. price $3.19
$0.50/1 Old orchard printable
$0.88 ea. wyb 5 after 2 double coupons

General Mills Promo: Buy $20 worth get $20 in future money off the total coupons.

(1) Honey Nut Cheerios, $2
(2) Betty Crocker Muffin Mix, $2
(2) Yoplait Splitz, $2 ea.
(1) Betty Crocker Cake Mix, $1
(1) Betty Crocker Frosting, $1.50
(3) Fruity Cheerios, $3.99
(This is where things went wrong. The wrong size box was in the slot where the $2.50 box was supposed to be. I didn’t realize this until the catalina coupons did not print.)
Used $11.50 in coupons after doubling. Which would have brought my out of pocket expenses to $8.50 if I bought the correct items.

The catalina did not print since I bought the wrong size box of Fruity Cheerios. I talked to the manager and he ended up giving me $20 cash! Woohoo! This definitely was better than getting the catalina coupons!

Spent: $32.30
Manager gave me $20
Total: $12.30 for all of the items in the picture above! A savings of 84%.

If your transaction does not end up how you expect at any of the stores you shop at, make sure you talk to the manager. Sometimes they can fix things right on the spot for you. Most of the time they want to make their customers happy. If you have a bad experience, make sure you let them know!

How did you know about the GM promo? I don’t get a HT ad so I rely on the website and there was nothing on the website. I didn’t see your deals posting until this posting so when I saw the promo I realized I spent just under $20 on those products so I didn’t get the coupons. Is it $20 in catalinas off any future purchase during those specific weeks or just regular coupons like the type of coupons that print all the time? I’m considering calling the manager to see if he would let me bring all the items back and return and rering them adding another item or two to get to the $20 but I want to make sure it’s worth it.

      Hi Dave,
The GM promo is listed in the paper ad. They should have the ads right inside the door when you go in. It is $20 in catalinas for future purchases during the specific weeks. Hope your manager accommodates you!

I, too, had a similar experience yesterday at Food Lion. I went to do the Maxwell House coffee deal (buy 5 and get an instant $5 at the register) and the instant reward didn’t print. I’ve found it’s easier to complete the transaction at the register and then immediately go to customer service to resolve the problem. Turns out the cans of coffee were not part of the deal … it’s the bricks of coffee.
