I know it sounds tacky, but actually it is really a nice idea if you make it personal. It is also a great way to get more for your money. This week at the Kroger they are offering $10 off if you buy $100.00 in gift cards. There are also sites out there like PlasticJungle.com that you can bid on cards and get gift cards for less than their face value. Or you can trade your unwanted gift cards for gift cards you will actually use!
I stock up this time of year. It helps me with my entertainment budget. You read, right I buy a couple of hundred dollars worth of gift cards towards places we eat at to control our budget. Outback is offering $20 for every $100 you spend; that is a free lunch for my husband and myself. We ask people to buy us gift cards because date nights are something we often do not treat ourselves too… but if dinner is free then out we go!
Heather over at Inexpensively has prepared a great list of Restaurants that have gift card promotions.
