Memories: Baking memories

This series on how to make the most out of the time you have with your children is brought to you by Amee at Madame Deals and Sharon at Mom on Dealz.

The tradition in our house is everyone makes your birthday cake. I ice the cake and the children decorate it anyway they want. We come up with an idea and then we plan a shopping trip. We buy the items. Then we turn on some music and we bake the cake. The fun comes with the eating the batter and then the icing and basically lauhing because our cake looks nothing like the picture. We talk about how it is unique like them and how every year they change. I think it is important as a parent to embrace your children and encourage their creativity. We will never win cake decorating contests. We will however have memories for a lifetime.

This is Belle’s castle. It was designed by my now three year old. It may look like a mess to some but to me it looks just like my daughter. It is pretty and imaginative and it is filled with sweetness. It looks like a true collaboration complete between her and her brother. I know which parts he did and which parts she applied. The cake was made with love and I know just like my children there isn’t another one like it or them.

What kind of memories have you created to celebrate birthdays in your home?
