Marathon Mommy: One Month Later



What happened after the marathon?

It’s been about a month since I ran my marathon, and I just wanted to check in!

After the marathon, I had quite a lot of pain in my right knee and left foot. Both subsided on their own, albeit with a little help from icing and anti-inflammatories. I took a two week break from all exercise – which wasn’t hard to accomplish, since for the first week or so, I could barely even walk up and down the stairs in my house.

I’ve started running again, but my efforts to get back into a fitness routine have been thwarted by illness. First a cold/asthma flare-up, then a hideous stomach bug (me and both kids, ugh), and now a really painful ear infection. But when I am feeling well, I’m running short distances – my focus for now will be on a 5K distance (3.1 miles). I’ve also started back with a bit of cross training, and I attended my first yoga class this week.

More than a Marathon Mommy…

What else have I been up to? Well…I’m happy to tell you that I’ve officially joined the Madame Deals team! If you’ve noticed posts in the last week or two written by SharonW…that’s me! I’m super excited to be working with the amazing ladies here at Madame Deals – especially the fabulous Amee – my sorority sister, my pledge sister, and my dear friend of almost 20 years! I have lots of fun Amee Secrets, but I promised not to share them if she promised not to share mine!

I’m looking forward to getting to know the Madame Deals readers better – not just as The Marathon Mommy, but as Sharon – mom, wife, wannabe chef, and lover of bargain shopping!
