I am so excited about the Mamas and Papas Playmat and Gym for our new baby! As a mom of two and one on the way, I am a strong believer in teaching your child to self-entertain. Learning to play alone is essential to promoting independence, self-confidence and creativity. This gym far surpasses the gyms I used with my two children, and encourages a child to self-entertain!
The Mamas and Papas Playmat and Gym has a huge surface area that includes a cotton pillow and over 20 developmental features for your baby! The Gym is Jungle Animal Themes, so that it is gender neutral while still being bright and colorful. I am certain that the various colors, animals and patterns on the mat will mesmerize my new baby.
To keep your baby’s attention, the mat has crinkle sounds along the entire bottom half of the mat, which your child will hear while kicking or stretching. The crinkle sounds can also be found in leaves scattered about the mat.
There are peek-a-boo leaves, green ribbon tags, soft clouds and a variation of rough and soft sensory fabrics for your baby to explore. Each is integrated into the jungle and is not easily identified without exploration by your child.
Five soft jungle animals hang above the baby and come with their own noise features, including squeaking and rattling. The toys dangle from the loops and can be easily removed for your baby to explore.
A lights and sounds mirror is also included, with blinking red lights. An on/off switch on the outer fabric activates the lights and the music requires a squeeze of the battery pack. The mirror does require six 1.5V batteries (included). They are safely stored in two separate cases, which are screwed closed and are not easily accessible.
Best of all, the mat is machine washable and very easy to set up! The mat incorporates everything your little one needs in a gym and playmat for tummy time or quiet time and will keep your baby’s interest well through 9 months old!
