Low Calorie Garlic & Herb Bread


This low calorie garlic & herb bread is one of my favorite recipes to make when I am craving something hearty. The herbs pair really nicely with the wheat bread and the best part? It’s a quick bread, so no waiting for yeast to rise! This recipe is easy to make, pretty quick, and only 160 calories for 2 slices!

  • 1 head of garlic, chopped
  • 1 1/3 cup of flour (I used wheat flour, but you can use white flour
  • 1 1/4 cup of all purpose flour
  • 1/4 tsp of baking powder
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/4 cup low fat milk
  • 1/3 cup of olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 2 tsp herbs (I used parsley, thyme, and basil)


  1. In a large bowl combine all your dry ingredients (flour,baking soda, baking powder, salt and pepper, and herbs)
  2. In another bowl combine your wet ingredients. (eggs, oil, milk)
  3. Add your wet and dry ingredients together and stir gently, add in your chopped garlic and mix well (but do not over mix, as soon as it becomes a paste, leave it be)
  4. Preheat your oven to 375. Scrape you mix into a coated bread pan and sprinkle the top with herbs. Bake for 35-45 mins or until golden brown. Let cool for 30 mins before slicing, and enjoy!
