Keeping Track of Gift Cards

One of the most popular presents is a gift card. While I love getting a gift card, I am not the best at keeping track of them. Today, I unearthed from my junk drawer five gift cards from past mail in rebates and gifts. I had no idea what the balance was on any of them. I took the time to call the 800 number or check the balance online. To my great surprise, three of the cards still had balances on them! Now that is a Money Making Monday for ya!

Anyways, I decided to mark each card with sharpie marker. Now I will not forget what the balance is. If I do not spend the whole amount, I will continue to mark the new balance with the sharpie. This marking system will also help me at the store. When prepaid debit cards are used, you have to tell the cashier what the exact card balance is if your balance due is higher than the amount on the card. Otherwise your card will be denied. The sharpie pen will save the day!

Do you have a gift card you don’t want? Why not trade it or sell it on Plastic Jungle? This site is dedicated to buying, selling and trading gift cards. At Plastic Jungle you can get gift cards at a discounted rate. For example you can get a $100 Sephora gift card for $88. Plastic Jungle verifies all gift cards before they sell or trade the gift cards. Shipping is free!

I would have to agree with you that the most popular gift of all is the gift card. What’s better then the personal choice to spend it on whatever you’d like at a store like Best Buy (personally I’m a tech guru).

I work for http://www.giftcardrescue.com and we will also purchase your unwanted gift cards and pay you CASH for them. So if your Aunt Sue gave you a card to Limited Too and you’ve moved onto American Eagle we would love to help you out!

The sharpie pen idea is great however because billions of dollars a year are wasted on unused gift cards that get lost in wallets and everywhere else.
