J&J’s For All You Love

Being a mom is something that I’ve always wanted to be. Growing up, I admire how my mom runs the house, takes care of me and my siblings and at the same time have a successful marriage and career. It was what I always dreamed of having when I grow up. I thought it was so easy until I had a family of my own. All along I thought I could easily manage having a career and family at the same time, but life took a different turn for me.

When my son turned two years old, he was diagnosed to have communication disorder. Our development pediatrician suggested that we do aggressive behavior and speech therapies since he told us that it was serious and that immediate intervention is needed for treatment to work. Because of the hectic schedule of his therapies and to be able to monitor his progress, I decided to resign from work and be a stay at home mom to supervise my son’s development. I admit that at first it was hard for me to give up the job that I worked hard for, it was after all a job that I was aiming for since my first year in college. Looking back I’m ashamed to say that I was not like other mommies who will drop everything in an instant if such a thing happened to them. It took me a while to think and I guess took some growing up on my part too to admit and realize that I really want to do it for my son, that I want to be there for his every step. That was the time that I realized what a parents love really is. As a mom, I am willing to sacrifice everything because of the love that I have for this child.  That I am willing to do everything and even leave everything just to put his needs above everything else.

Now my son is 6 years old and was also diagnosed to have attention deficit hyperactivity disorder with oppositional defiant disorder. He’s excellent in academics, however still struggles with communicating and interacting with kids his age. But the good thing is that according to our doctor, his progress is remarkable and that  without early intervention it would have been difficult for him to attend regular school. It’s not easy and it is a struggle for us daily. I still get teary eyed whenever he’s having a hard time understanding what other people is saying or when he gets confused on what to reply to questions that we ask him, but with faith I’m positive that one day he will be able to cope and handle himself well with other people. All the sacrifices was worth it whenever I see this happy child and how he  grew up to be  full of confidence despite his deficiencies. I’m 100% sure  that I made the right decision.

I want my son to know that he can do anything he wants and he can succeed. It may need double efforts but he will be able to achieve his goals because I will be there to give him all the support that I can give. He has all the love from God, from me and our whole family. My success as a person is not defined by a career, but instead my definition of success now is by having wonderful treasure in my life, that of this child who gives joy to me and our family every day.

In celebration of Mother’s Day, J&J launched their “For All You Love” campaign. It celebrates the selfless and unconditional caring of caregivers, including moms, and all the ways they care for those they love. And as part of J&J’s For All You Love campaign and their commitment to the health and well-being of moms and kids worldwide, J&J is also planning to donate $25K this Mother’s Day to Save the Children®.

In celebration of Mother’s Day this year, JOHNSON’S® Baby has established JOHNSON’S® Baby CARES Care Cards, a digital e-card platform encouraging moms to share positive messages of encouragement with other moms across the country, while simultaneously supporting Save the Children®. You can help, too! Simply pick and share a card filled with messages of reassurance for a Mom in your life on Facebook. For every card sent, shared or liked, JOHNSON’S® Baby will donate $1.00 to Save the Children® (up to $150,000) to benefit early childhood education programs that foster education and reassurance for new moms. These cards will not only spread encouragement to Moms throughout the country but will also provide Moms in need with the skills and knowledge to successfully support their child’s growth.
