Each payday, we buy discounted gift cards from a website like Cardpool. We stockpile them to use for Black Friday, wedding gifts, anniversaries, baby gifts, back to school- really, anything you can think of. With some of the discount card websites, if you sign up for emails, they will randomly notify you of flash sales or one-day specials.

Another good tip is to check the Dollar Tree for cards. They’re usually 2/$1 and most are really cute. The Dollar Tree is also great for party supplies, gift wrap/bags, and craft supplies. I just got a ginormous box of glue gun sticks there. They even have fairly nice fabric flowers.

I am disabled and have been living on Social Security disability since I was in my early 20’s. I will be 50 next year. I get around $700 a month. There aren’t a lot of people who could survive on what I get. I do it because I don’t have a choice. But, I live on my own and don’t get help from any outside sources other than Social Security and the teeny bit of foodstamps I get. I would love some tips on how to save up when there isn’t anything to save from…lol. =/
