How To Make Your Own Glitter Ornaments
How To Make Your Own Glitter Ornaments
Happy Holiday season! As someone who loves a good DIY project, the holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year. I love making homemade gifts, DIY decorations, or just a fun craft with my kids. Over the weekend my daughter and I made some really fun DIY ornaments for our Christmas Tree this year. You guys, if you love glitter as much as we do, then you are going to love this project. Would you like to learn how to make your own glitter ornaments? Well then keep reading, because I am going to show you!
You Will Need:
- Clear Glass Ornaments
- Polyacrylic
- Extra Fine Glitter
- Paper Cups
- Optional: Ribbon
Step 1: You will want to make sure your ornaments are clean. If they are fresh out of the box you are good to go, but if you are using ornaments you already have at home, I would swish a little alcohol on the inside of your ornaments and let dry before moving to step 2.
Step 2: Take the tops of your ornaments. Set them aside. Using a funnel or a syringe you will put some of your polyacrylic into your ornament. There isn’t an exact measurement for this, but you will want enough in the ornament for step 3.
Step 3: Place your thumb over the opening of your ornament, and gently swirl the polyacrylic around until it covers the entire inside surface of your ornament. Let the excess drain in your paper cup.
Step 4: Once your ornament is drained of excess liquid, it’s time to get glittery! Using a funnel, pour some glitter in. Again, not an exact science. Swirl the glitter around until it coats the surface on the inside. Set upside down in your paper cup and let the excess glitter drain.
Step 5: Recap your ornaments and sit someone cool and dry to let dry. Once completely dry you can add a ribbon for hanging and ta-da! You are done!
And that is how to make your own glitter ornament!
