Help for Haiti: Fabulous Bloggers Donating

help for Haiti

Many of you know of Crystal at Money Saving Mom. She has come up with a wonderful idea for raising funds for Haiti. Many fabulous bloggers have followed her lead. Crystal will donate $10 for everyone who blogs about how they are helping Haiti and then leaves a link to the post on her site. That is $10 per link! Simply amazing! If you don’t have a blog, just leave a comment stating how you have helped with the Haiti disaster. There are at least 45 other bloggers who will also donate various amounts by posting your link or comment. Find the full list at Money Saving Mom.

Personally I have made a donation to Compassion International. Other great organizations to donate to are Numana and the American Red Cross. You can donate to the Red Cross without spending moneyby texting “Haiti” to 90999. The Red Cross will donate $10 for each text. Sorry for the confusion. It appears that your phone bill will be charged an extra $10 next month for the text. This brings up a good point, please read all fine print before donating! There are many scams out there; unfortunately.

If you need more incentive to donate, visit Hope for Haiti. Many fabulous bloggers have donated ad space and products. If you make a donation from the Hope for Haiti website, you will entered into the raffle to win a prize. Each prize has a separate donation link.

http://www.just1dollar4haiti.org/ is the website specifically for earthquake relief for the nonprofit Haiti Cheri Havest Life Ministries (www.haiticheri.org). They are an mission organization that partners with Haitian people to improve their quality of life (education, food, medical, etc). Any money donated now goes to earthquake relief. You can check out the website for a link to up-to-date info and correspondence from Haitian friends about the earthquake and effects, and you can make tax-deductible contributions securely online. You are right that every little bit helps- most Haitian people live on less per day than we can scrape out of the ashtray for a Coke in the drive-thru. Having done mission work in Haiti, I have seen first-hand the desolation of everyday life for the Haitian people. This epic disaster is truly heartbreaking, and the long-term consequences are beyond what I can even fathom. Thanks for posting, and thanks for your generosity.

Hi, You may want to correct “Hatai” to read: “Haiti” as the donation probably won’t go through with the misspelling! :-) Thanks for the post!

Hi! Thank you for blogging about this – this is great!

Callers who donate $10 to the Red Cross by texting “Haiti” to 90999 should know that there will be a $10 charge on their next cell phone bill for each time they send a text. (Just so they are aware that the money isn’t donated BY Red Cross, on their behalf.)

It’s so wonderful to see everyone pulling together and making such a huge effort to help those affected by this terrible crisis. My hat’s off to all who are pitching in and helping!

I’m giving $10 eCOUPONs to my online gift store Gifts For One Gifts For All (www.giftsforonegiftsforall.com) to those that have donated to organizations helping the Haitian earthquake victims. When the eCOUPON is redeemed, 10% of the purchase will also be donated to organizations helping Haiti. Read my blog for more details at http:/bit.ly/DONATE2HAITI.
