Healthy Cheesy Banana Peppers Recipe

Banana peppers can be ‘sweet’ or ‘hot’. These two suggestions for serving can be used for either. The dairy in the cheese will make the hot mild enough for a child to eat.

Some of the healthiest snacks and meals are made with doing the least to the vegetables…eating less processed, raw vegetables can help you more than many medications. This recipe is a quick and easy snack that is not only good for you but tasty.

PLEASE be sure to emphasize to your children that while a banana pepper shares the word banana with the fruit banana and has a similar shape as well as color- they do NOT taste similar at all. My children actually note the texture more than the taste of a pepper when they eat this snack.

Cheesy Banana Peppers Recipe

Ingredients:

Mozarella cheese
Banana peppers

Slice the banana peppers lengthwise and pull out the seeds then rinse.
Stuff the banana peppers with the cheese and toast slightly.
Allow to cool then serve.
!Another snack to try is stuffing the peppers with pimento cheese. Here is one easy recipe:
1/2 cup mayonnaise
2 cups cheddar cheese
1 small jar pimentos, drained
!This variation can be made for children by children but depending on the age of your children it may require a bit of pre prep (such as slicing the peppers). If you have the pimento cheese ready and the peppers sliced the children can make their own healthy, high protein snack.
