Fashion Friday: It is not in the GENES it is in the JEANS

I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things: the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can’t see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato’s closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast!

So where did we leave off? The little black dress and the wedding…..

Vera Wang Dress

I wore the Vera Wang dress and the belt from the other Vera Wang dress. I completed the look with the Chinese Laundry shoes and the Vera Wang clutch. Then because it was cold I grabbed a velvet jacket ($3.50 from goodwill). Grand total: $111.00 that includes everything!!! CLICK HERE

It is not in the GENES it is in the JEANS

jeansjeans2This is an actual person wearing her actual jeans. She is a wonderful mom, wife, and professional and she is lucky in the genes department. That being said she is deficient in the jeans department. I mean if my bottom looked like hers I certainly wouldn’t hide it. Yes, ladies admit it we all look at each other. We do the once up and once down sometimes more. It is part of nature to size up the competition.

We all have parts that are better than others and capitalizing on those parts is important. This is why I suggest you find a friend who dresses well. Then ask her opinion on your clothes. This can only be done by those of us strong enough to hear the truth. My friend asked me if I would take her on a shopping spree with her money of course. I said, “yes, anything to get you into jeans that fit.” We hit tons of stores and in true Madame Deals fashion spent a little over $50. That’s right we did this in 3 hours and we bought 2 pairs of jeans, 1 pair of black pants, 1 coat, 1 blazer, 1 dress, a couple of sweaters, and a couple of shirts.

Those jeans are fabulous! Did you buy everything at thrift stores? I’d like to know where you shopped and see photos of the other items. I love your fashion posts!
