Fashion Friday: For Free or close

I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can’t see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato’s closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast!

The best things in life are free. I think it is nice to build my wardrobe on the cheap or for free! This year my goal is to get organized. I am going to head to my closet and get rid of everything that I do not wear or that does not fit. Then I am going to tackle the kid’s closet. Finally I will organize a swap. I will get new to me clothes and be able to pass on items that no longer fit myself or the kids.

The next step for free clothes is to cash in on all the reward cards I have accrued using my Gymboree credit card and my Discover card. I get a $10 gift card for every $1,000 I spend. I think this is a super way to build towards a super wardrobe. I put everything on my card and then every Wednesday night I pay off the balance. I bought almost all my holiday presents using my reward cards. I charge as many bills as I can on my credit card. I have my mortgage, cell phone, gas, groceries, Home Owners dues, and power directed toward my card.

The third way to get clothes on the cheap is to shop on Ebay. I find that I can find everything in the store online for a lot less. I often go to the big box store try something on then hunt to find it for less. I have also been know to go to goodwill online. I have bought very expensive Coach boots for $50.00 and they were new!

The best way to save money is to shop ahead of time. I am always on the hunt for items in my kid’s next size. I shop the clearance section with my gift cards to score the best items for the least amount. If you buy classic items you can get them for less. I am going to head to Plato’s closet to see what I can find. The stores usually have coupons out right now to get the items you need for less. They are practically giving them away. You have to think if I buy this will It be worn? Is this an item that will be in style next year? I mean how much can a pair of khakis change in a year? The best fashion advice I have for you is to buy things that fit you and your budget.
