I love Fashion but I hate paying tons of money to look great. I believe you need two things the knowledge of what looks good on you and the skill to find it for less. I encourage you to get rid of all the items in your closet that you do not wear. They cloud up your options to make really great outfits because you can’t see your clothes! If they are in good condition sell the at a consignment store or a place like Plato’s closet, or host a clothing swap. Clothing swaps are a blast!
These are the items I suggest adding to your wardrobe.
- Black pants that are flat front. That means no pleats, designs or large pockets. These items all add volume. We do not want volume near our tummy.
- Color: Find a color that flatters you. Then you need to buy a shirt, blouse, and sweater in that color; depending on the season.
- A great pair of jeans. They need to be dark in color. This will make your legs look longer and your bottom smaller.
- A classic white shirt. This will lend itself to the black pants or jeans for two totally different looks.
Here is what I did for UNDER $25. This is for all the items in the different looks you see. I scored them all in two different outings to Goodwill. I wanted to show you how to make your holiday looks classic, chic, and cheerful without spending a lot of money. I selected items that you could easily put in your work wardrobe or for a night out. The key to frugality in fashion is making every item functional and fun.
I picked the classic black pants because you can wear them for years to come. I then found a fun top which I will show you how to layer next week. I think it is important to have a look at me item in your wardrobe and really $3.50 from Goodwill can you argue? It is not about what you save it is about what you spend. Think about it if you can find ways to cut your clothing budget down…. then you could pay towards the principles of your bills. This site is about saving everyday in everyway. You do not have to stop doing what you are doing just do it smarter. I mean I still a shopaholic but even my husband can’t argue with one $20 or less outfit a week (usually $10.00 including the shoes.)
Total for the three outfits $21.00 ( cream pants were used in both) Stay tuned next week I will add more. I will however not spend more than $25.00 total on all my looks! Not bad ha?
