Daily Quotes of Inspiration

This is the year that I decided I would own the fact that I inspire others. I know that is pretty brash to say you have the power to inspire. The truth is I have Klout. I used to be a teacher in the classroom but now I have expanded my reach. I using my gift to help my children grow, my marriage prosper, and my readers become the people they want to be. I am not about fluff in fact I have been told I am blunt. I guess some people like the wrapping paper but I am more interested in what is inside. I picked the word inspire and that is my plan for this year.

This is a message that was left to myself and some of my sorority sisters this morning. I know I was one of the people she was talking about because I took time out of my day to be her light. I did it because that is what I do because I love her and she had been my light when I needed one.

“This post is almost 4 years overdue, but I’ve been trying to find the right words to say. March 21, 2010 began the lowest point in my life. I had lost my husband and had to tell his, just 6 yr old, son that his dad was never coming home. I had never prepared for this and had no clue what to do. In the midst of this tragedy, there was a light of hope. I can humbly admit that I was not the best sister when I was in college, even quoting because I didn’t want the commitment. I only kept in contact with a couple of sisters over the years and had only seen those 3 since college. When the word got out about my husband’s passing, my miracle happened. The overwhelming outpouring support and love that I received from my sisters was incredible. Some of you I had never even met before, but the simple fact that there was a sister in need was enough for you to help. That was the first time that I finally realized the true meaning of sisterhood, though I wish I would have realized it sooner. You will never know who much your love and support help make the difference between me making it or it breaking me. I’m so happy to, finally, be able to have you be apart of the rebirth and happiness of my life. I will forever be grateful for what you did for my son and I. I love you all more than you will ever know. You helped save me and there is no way I can every repay you. my son and I are loving proof that, with the supper of amazing people, you can get through anything! I look forward to enjoying many years to come of memories with a group of women that came together to help a sister in need that most had spoken to since college. Sorry for the long post, but it’s been needed to been said for years. I love you all. Happy New Year, LITBOS abd Xi love to you all.”

I guess you are wondering why I shared that I did so because you never know what a kind word, a thoughtful action means to someone else.  Her post made me cry this morning. I didn’t cry because I was sad but because she had struggled with our generosity and the reason behind it. We did it because we love her with her “flaws” and all. The truth is our flaws make us who we are. It was a nice way to wake up in 2014 and to realize that no matter what you do if it comes from your heart then it is meaningful.

You also have the power to inspire. The question is will you use it?

Making time for what’s important is starting to sink in with me lately. Just a few months ago one of my best friends decided to pursue a career in biology and left the country to settle down in Japan for her job. It will be another two years before I get to see her. I am trying to think of ways to stay in touch with her during that time. It’s really challenging for me to accept the fact that I wouldn’t be able to just pick up the phone and call her to share my news or ask how she’s doing whenever I want to.

What an Awesome way to start my day! I really needed to read this because I lost my Mom in April of 2013 and I am the only one who has lived away from home since I was in my 20′s and now I am 50. I spoke to my Mom almost every day and saw her 2 times a year and she came here to Florida many times! When I flew home for the services, the first thing my 3 sisters and brother wanted to talk about was “Who was getting what of my Mom’s”, as you can imagine this was very upsetting to me and I have been very depressed about thinking that was all they cared about!! My Mom and I were Best Friends and she gave me away at my wedding in 2007 because my father died in 1997. I will take all of your advice because I need to move on for me and my family!
