My daughter is doing something pretty fun at school this week, a Nursery Rhyme Parade! Her, and the rest of the Kindergartners at her school get to dress up as their favorite Nursery Rhyme character and put on a parade for their friends and parents. How fun is that right? So when my little girl said she wanted to be The Muffin Man, I got to thinking about how I could help her dress up. That is when she suggested that she wanted a cupcake to hold. So I made this DIY Pom-Pom Cupcake and thought I would share it with you! This DIY Pom-Pom Cupcake would be cute Cupcake Party Ideas as party decor, party favors, or if you happen to have a nursery rhyme parade, I have you covered ha! This project was cheap and easy to make, and I think it turned out super cute!

Here is what you will need to make this DIY Pom-Pom Cupcake:

  • Dry Foam 1/2 ball (or you could cut a full one in half if you can’t find the half size)
  • A plastic planter (I got this one for $0.25 at Walmart!)
  • Pom-Poms!
  • Hot glue gun
  • Paint (if you wish to color the planter) You could also use markers, fabric, etc)

Here is how to make this DIY Pom-Pom Cupcake:

Step 1: First you will want to glue your dry foam onto your planter. A thin line of hot glue around the edge of your planter works great! (You could also use regular glue, but it will take longer to dry)

Step 2: Pick your color scheme! My daughter wanted rainbow. Using a thin line of hot glue, glue the pom-poms to your dry foam. Again, you can do this with regular glue but it will take longer to dry.

Step 4: Starting at the bottom, and working your way to the top in rows, finishing gluing all your pom-poms to your dry foam! (Nice and easy right?)

Step 4: Check to make sure you have no empty spaces, and glue a few extra pom-poms on the top to make a great cupcake shape!

*Optional Step- you could paint the bottom of your cupcake to match your cupcake theme! Fun Fact, I actually used nail polish to paint the bottom of mine! It dries fast, and gives it a nice shine!
