Crafting with Kids: Enjoy the Sun

Spring has sprung! This means that my kids and I are headed outside as much as possible! We have been cooped up all winter long. We have all had our fill of being inside and are ready to explore the outdoors once again (without having to bundle up in a million layers to stay warm).

Get outside

One of things we look forward to the most is our first picnic of the year. This typically happens in our driveway, in sweatshirts or coats and hats but, we still cherish this milestone every year. We love being able to mark the beginning of spring this way.

Surprises for Daddy

Another thing we like to do during the spring and summer while the sun is still out fairly late, is to write Daddy notes with sidewalk chalk while he is away at work. Sometimes our notes are on the driveway so he sees them as he pulls in, other times they are on the sidewalk. Either way, my kids love to leave Daddy surprise notes and, I think Daddy likes to get them just as much.

Time to get messy!

We love to paint and use glitter and make a mess. I do many things to make the clean up easier inside but, being able to get outside makes those options even more appealing. Painting isn’t any less messy but, the clean up sure is a lot easier.

Finger paints and tempera paints are non-toxic so it is perfectly safe to just rinse away any left behind with water.

We spend as much time as possible outside during the spring, summer and fall seasons. Any art projects that can be done inside can be done outside so, take your art outside and enjoy the weather while it lasts.
