Couponing for the Extremely Normal: Rain Checks

Welcome to Couponing for the Extremely Normal! Have you watched the new TLC series “Extreme Couponing“? If so, you must realize how extreme these couponers can be.  Here at Madame Deals, we prefer to teach our readers how to coupon realistically.

This week’s reader tip is RAIN CHECKS!  If the store you are shopping at is out of item, and the price of that item is a good one, ask for a rain check.  A rain check will allow you to purchase the product at a later date for the sale price at the time you obtained the rain check.

I recently heard the price of peanut butter was going to skyrocket.  Well, the first thing I did was check my Madame Deals’ Coupon Solution for any peanut butter rain checks.  Well, as fate would have it, I have two rain checks for peanut butter at a rock bottom price of $1.50 a jar.  This morning I ran across a coupon for $1.50/3 of this brand of peanut butter.  Since I was able to print two of these coupons, I took the rain check and the two coupons to the store and bought 6 jars of peanut butter for $1 each.  The regular price was $2.83 and, if the news of the price increase is accurate, this price will only go higher.  We now have six jars of peanut butter (at a savings of 65%) to tide us over until I find another coupon to use with the second rain check I still have in my coupon solution.

Let us know how your extremely normal coupon journey is coming along.  We love to hear from our readers!
