Chutzpah:Reviews for a fee

Chutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine.

chutzpah Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or confidence, but among Yiddish speakers, it is not a compliment. For more Yiddish WordsChut

The long and the short of this story is blogging cost money. I have to say a lot of money because time is money and then there is hosting, design, Rss feeds, coupon databases and time. I blog about what I want. I often get approached to advertise or review products. I would say to the tune of 20 or more a day. I like the advertiser who offers you a chance to win a gift card. I do not go to work for a chance at a paycheck? Do they? This week my favorite pitch was if you write this post (words supplied) and then you with a page of then you instructions and there wasn’t anything as a reward.  I mean a full page of stipulations.  They didn’t even offer a product to give away to you. I wonder do they understand the concept of work= payment in some form. I exchange goods and services, advertising, money, and products but I do not nor will I work for FREE.  If I took every opportunity to review or advertise for free when would I have time to do what I want. The bigger picture is how would I pay to do this?

I think the funniest story that I have heard thus far came from my friend at Budget Savvy Diva. She was offered a review where they required a deposit for the item they wanted her to review. I think that takes a lot of Chutzpah. They weren’t going to pay for her time to write the review, promote the product, and host a contest. Yes, it takes a lot of work! They instead wanted her to review the product, write about the product, and pay them. Lucky her ha?

What is the funniest thing anyone has ever asked you do for free?
