Chutzpah : What's your gripe?

We went to our Blissdom conference and the overall message was be yourself. I am sure most of you know this site is owned by two women. We are very different in a lot of ways and similar in others. One difference is I am Jewish. Yes, my husband is Catholic and my son goes to a Baptist school. I believe that everyone’s religion has value and there is something to learn from everyone.

So on to my new column idea- Chutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine.

Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or confidence, but among Yiddish speakers, it is not a compliment. For more Yiddish Words

Last night, I went to bed early at 8:10 PM. I was beat I had a busy day and the night before my little princess decided to play from 1:00 AM until 3:00 AM. I am sure you can all relate. At 8:45 PM EST my phone rang. I was offered the chance to renew my magazine subscription. Are you serious at 8:45 PM! I was furious is this an acceptable time to call someone? I was in such a wonderful mood that I just hung up.

Leave a comment and let me know what made your blood boil.

A similar thing happened to me a while back only the caller called me at 9:05 pm. I simply said that I was in Virginia and it was after 9pm and it was illegal for them to call me at that point. I think I flustered the caller so much they didn’t know what to say. (I also felt the need to be nice as my bff in h/s was one of those callers at one point and I know how much she hated it, but also that she needed the job.) Hang in there – possibly could you turn the ringer off when you head to bed early like that??
