Chutzpah: Unanswered Prayers

Chutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine.

chutzpah Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or confidence, but among Yiddish speakers, it is not a compliment.

It all started yesterday when my daughter came home from school. She sat on my lap on the floor and said, “mommy we need to pray for a baby.” I thought okay lets pray for a baby since there is a baby out there that needs prayers. I wasn’t sure where this conversation/ requests was going but who could refuse a three year old. She lead the prayer and everything was wonderful until the end. She finished the prayer with “please, bring me a baby sister because I already have a baby brother.” I wasn’t sure what to say so I am hoping this is one of God’s unanswered prayers. I told this story on Madame Deals facebook page  and one of my friends said, “They teach children to ask for babies so they can get a dog.” I think my daughter has far better of a chance to receive a dog than a baby sister. I think three children is enough for us. I haven’t slept in 8 years.

Well as some of you know my 6 year old has been diagnosed with High Functioning Autism. She is opposite of what you think when you think of Autism, she is outspoken and outgoing. Everytime we go somewhere she talks to everyone that she enounters. It is always the same questions, what is your name, how old are you, where do you live, are you married, do you have kids, do you make alot of money. Well we were in a store and she was asking all these questions to the cashier and when he said he was not married and didnt have any kids and he did not make alot of money she blurts out well why not do you think you are ugly and that is why you are not married with kids??? I was horrified looked down at her then said my normal apologies to the man and explained her situation. We get out in the car and I ask her why in the world she would say that, Her reply was well mommy I dont know about you but I think a man with a ponytail is ugly! No matter how much I talk to her it is in her that she just says it how she see’s it. I have often thought about getting the cards that explain my child has Autism but on the other hand I am told I should not have to explain, she is afterall a child.
