Tuesday Tip: Do what you love

I am a stay at home mom because I love my kids and it is something we planned for financially. I am a business co-owner running a website that helps people grow and learn. I am a therapist for a child who has some special needs and I am able to help him learn new skills which helps to fill the void left by not teaching. I love to learn, work with people, ...

Snacks for Traveling

Kids seems to want snacks non-stop. To save money on snacks while traveling, I make little snack bags for my boys. Take the snack size ziploc bags and place a variety of snack items in them. I use cheerios, dried fruit, raisins, gold fish and animal crackers. I make each little bag different and let my boys choose which one they would like. Also, make the portions in each bag small. There will be less waste and they will be less likely to spill. They will enjoy having their own little snack bag. ...

I did a little research and found that you can blanch and freeze carrots easily.I sliced some and kept some whole. For the sliced carrots I boiled them for 2 minutes to blanch. The whole ...

Halloween Costumes for FREE

Inexpensively has a new Money Saving Monday link-up opportunity. This weeks theme is tips for a frugal halloween. My tip is to trade costumes! Why buy new costumes each year when there are plenty of people to trade with? My nephews are older than my boys and so is Amee's son. I went through the costumes they had and then let my three year old pick from the selections I made. He was thrilled to try them all on and compare! It was a lot of fun and how many stores let a three year old try ...

Tuesday's Tip

Get organized. The easiest way to save money is to get organized. I am working toward this goal. This weekend I bought apple juice; 3 of them. I went to put the apple juice in their optimal location and there sat 2 apple juice bottles. I now have a stockpile of apple juice, which isn't that awful. However, I spent $5 out of my $100.00 budget on something we didn't need right now. So how am I going to avoid this in the future? I am going to stick with my list. I place my Madame Deals list on my ...

We are leaving next week for a vacation to California. My three year old loves airplanes and can't wait to go! In fact, he asks non-stop "can we go on an airplane now, pleeeease?". This morning my wonderfully artistic husband made the above calendar! Everyday we will cross off a block on the calendar to countdown until trip day. You could make a countdown calendar for a number of things; holidays, birthdays or grandparent's visits. ...
