Motivation Monday

Welcome, We all need a little motivation especially on Monday. I wanted this space in cyberspace to represent more than the next deal. I mean the next deal is great but we all require a cheerleader in life. Madame Deals was started to help, motivate, and inspire the spender in all of us to do more with what we have. It is important to find balance in your life  because your bank account byline doesn't define who you are. You define who you are. … [Read more...]

Making Dollars Out of Change … It Never Hurts to Ask!

With the impending snow storm, it became imperative I make an impromptu trip to the mall last night to buy a new winter coat (with a hood) for my daughter. She knew the coat she wanted was at Sears so we headed out to the mall. We lucked out and found the perfect coat! Then came the fun part ... paying for it. The tag read $109.50 which was WAY out of my price range. However, it was hanging on a rack showing a sale price of $50. When we got to the register, I asked the salesclerk if … [Read more...]

Chutzpah- You want fries with that?

Chutzpah. This is a word that is used often by myself because sometimes I just can’t believe what people do. I mean really! I thought it would be fun to share our Chutzpah moments. The only rules are no names of stores, people, or events. You may also not use inappropriate language. Leave a comment listing your favorite Chutzpah moment! I mean laughter is the best medicine. chutzpah Or khutspe. Nerve, extreme arrogance, brazen presumption. In English, chutzpah often connotes courage or … [Read more...]

Making Dollars Out of Change: Do You Volunteer?

Do you regularly volunteer?  If so, be sure to keep track of your mileage.  If you itemize your deductions (most homeowners itemize), make a point to check with your tax preparer to determine if the miles driven in connection with your volunteer work are tax deductible. It's not to soon to start thinking about potential tax deductions. Now it’s your turn! If you are a blogger, write a post about your idea for making dollars out of change. It can be on any topic as long as it has to do with … [Read more...]

Ask A traveler: What lessons did you learn

I just got back from a 16+ car trip to Florida. We had a wonderful time but I believe you need to document mistakes so you do not make them again. Here is what I learned: 10) Plan your trip so you do not arrive at your destination at 3:00 in the morning or so you do not have to debate staying at a place that charges by the hour. Deal or no deal???? 9) When looking for a place to stay after driving over 14 hours with three wide awake children at 2:00 am do not drive around to save $3.00 your … [Read more...]
