Ask an Employee/ Employer: Can you work with a friend?

I think one question that is asked more than any other is "How do you work with a friend?" I actually think it has its benefits and hardships. I am going to go over the hardships first. There is a lot more at stake if it doesn’t work out. You could end up finding your friend is a great friend but horrible co-worker.  You could find out that your friend isn’t really a friend. The worst is you could lose a friend over work. You have to set real boundaries and be up front in your expectations. You ...

Ask a person who let go of her landline

I had my fear. I have had a home phone all my life. I mean I have been paying for one for years without using it. I have unlimited minutes on my cell. I kept my land-line because of the 911 feature. That feature is available on your phone without service. I needed it for my DSL. Well, you do not anymore. The only thing I would say is make sure you are not working from home the next day when they turn off your DSL by accident after a couple of hours all was well and I now have $35 more in the ...

Ask a Person Overwhelmed by Stuff

I must admit we have too much stuff. The majority of it is mine. The garage is filled with teaching supplies. I hope to return back to that career someday so I keep the 20 bins of stuff needed to be effective. Then there are the drawers, containers, and cabinets filled with craft stuff. I could scrapbook for my entire community.  I could also make a necklace larger in circumference than the lake in our community with all the beads I have. We will not even go into the closets that are brimming ...

Ask A Swim Instructor: What do you need to know to keep your kids safe

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

The sun is out and my little one is on the run. She is usually on the run straight towards water. I have thought about taking her to swim lessons but I am strapped for time. My husband also taught people how to swim when he was in the Navy; so he wants to do it. I keep seeing articles on children drowning and most times drowning occurs while the parent is right there. My husband actually rescued a three year old when she was in the pool with her babysitter. She was very lucky that my husband ...

Ask a Mom: Is it worth it to go back to work?

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

Ask A Mom- is it worth it to go back into the work force? I debated whether I should return to the work force and I decided for my mental stability it is the best option. I really enjoy working. I am also doing it for the benefit of our family. The job market is very unstable currently and my husband’s company just “let go” some workers. They were asked to leave that day. We are unsure who is next so we need to have a plan in place.  I found a job working part-time earning enough to cover our ...

Ask a Daughter and Wife: What Makes a good Dad?

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

On this day we celebrate the men in our lives for being Fathers. When we think about the importance a Father has in a child's life it is immeasurable. I think one of my favorite memories of my husband was when he was on the phone with one of his friends and he has said, "being a Dad is the best thing I have ever done." The fact that my husband was on the phone in the first place was a miracle and the fact that he was explaining how much his kids meant to him was priceless. We often talk about ...

Ask a Victim of Phishing

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

Ask a victim of Phishing- This week, coupled with lack of sleep, I became a victim of phishing just by going to my email box. I use Yahoo email for my personal email and it fell victim to someone who was phishing for information. This is what the people I spoke to think happened since I do not have any viruses on my Mac. Phishing is a term used when describing computer security, phishing is the criminally fraudulent process of attempting to acquire sensitive information such as usernames, ...

Ask A Multitasking Money Saving Mom of Three

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

Ask a Multitasking Money Saving Mom of Three… How has your life changed? I decided that my sanity is expendable but making sure there was some normalcy for my children was not negotiable. The last couple of months have been challenging. I haven’t been able to be the mom I wanted to be to all of my children.  I had a lot of time to think while hanging in the hospital and I decided that my best is all I can expect. I decided I needed to multi-task and give up a couple of things. The first ...

Ask a Wife of a Veteran

Why is this holiday important? What does it mean? I think we often take for granted the freedom we experience everyday. This site wouldn't exist in some parts of the world. I wouldn't have the opportunities I have if I didn't live in America. My family has benefited from the military and we are very grateful for what we have experienced and learned. My husband served in the Navy and it was during his service time that afforded him the opportunity to obtain a Bachelors degree and a Masters ...

Ask a Working Mom- How do you manage the madness

Zemanta Related Posts Thumbnail

The answers I always have are make a schedule, get a support staff, and let go of perfection.  I never realized how much work it takes to work when you have kids. I also never realized how hard it is for me to work inside the house full-time as the stay at home mom only. I honestly couldn’t do it so I had to find a better balance. I have a huge amount of respect for moms. We truly are amazing.  I currently work part-time from my house which I often think is more difficult then leaving the house ...
