Caring With Coupons & Giving Back to the Community

making dollars changes

Madame Deals believes in a strong community and we do our best to give back. It is not always easy to give in these tough economic times. One great thing about couponing is that we are able to give back to the community without spending a lot of money. It is amazing how many free items I have collected by using coupons, store promotions, rewards programs and rebates.

Since January, Madame Deals has been participating in the Penny Experiment. We have donated close to $200 worth of food for about $20 out of pocket to MACAA. I am hoping this week at Harris Teeter we can grab some new bargains to donate!

couponing for community

Kaley over at Cha Ching on a Shoestring has come up with a fabulous idea to unite bloggers and readers to participate in Couponing for Community. For the week of May 2nd, we are going to concentrate on giving! Madame Deals will be continuing their efforts to give to MACAA. We hope that all of you will pick a charity or someone in need to give back to as well. Clean out your stockpile or start looking for bargains in the store. Next week is Stamp Out Hunger week as well. You can easily donate your non-perishable goods by leaving them in a bag at your mailbox on May 8th.

How to participate in Couponing for Community:

  • Kaley has set up a facebook page for the event. Head on over and RSVP!
  • Start gathering items you want to donate and think about who you want to give too.
  • Let us know about your participation! Leave a comment or blog about the event. Take pictures and share them on facebook. Kaley will have a linky up on May 8th for you to share your blog posts if you are a blogger. And if you are not a blogger, we still encourage your participation and comments!

Coming together in an effort to support our communities is so awesome! I love the fact that we can give without necessarily spending a lot of money. Of course, Harris Teeter triple coupons this week will certainly help out!

Now it’s your turn!

If you are a blogger, write a post about your idea for making dollars out of change. It can be on any topic as long as it has to do with saving money. We encourage you to place a link back to Madame Deals in your post. Then come back here and add your post URL to the linky. Please post directly to your post and not your homepage.

If you do not have a blog, we still welcome and encourage your participation! Please leave your thoughts in the in a comment below!

You are right. Giving back is so very important. Different people do it in different ways, though.

I like to encourage and support other people by practicing simple hospitality…as opposed to entertaining. The ham recipe I blogged about is perfect for this, since it’s frugal, delicious, and super-easy to prepare.
