Check out a mom’s marathon experience.
Five months ago, I told you that I was training for my first marathon. I was hopeful…cautiously optimistic…but I sure had my doubts. And now, here I am, just weeks away from my goal…it’s hard to believe that I’m actually doing this!
Yesterday, my group and I did our final long run before the big day. 26 miles – almost an entire marathon! It was rough, but we stuck together and we survived. I’m feeling a bit beat up today…my knees and hips are stiff and achy, and I’m struggling with a bit of residual pain in my right knee. I’m resting and icing my knee and eating and rehydrating. So today I will be brief…next week when I’m a bit more physically and mentally recovered, I will delve further into the topic of nutrition for runners. Until then, I’ll leave you with some pictures of these final steps toward my goal.

“I tried my hand at being a work at home mom, but in 2009 I decided that being a stay at home mom is what works best for me and my family, at least for now. As my kids like to say, I’m “The Boss” of the family, which includes my husband of 9 years, two daughters (ages 4 and 6), and a giant goldfish named Princess Leia. My girls are beautiful and curious and wild and exhausting, and life is never, ever dull! I love reading, traveling, trying new restaurants, and shopping for bargains. I’m also training to run my first marathon in February 2013.”
