My Advocare Journey Day 8 Update

I started my Advocare 24 Day Challenge very motivated and ready to take on the challenge to a healthy life, and better me.  I have been unhappy with how I let myself go for quite some time and decided that it is time to make the change.

A few things I have learned VERY quickly:
#1 It is VERY important to plan out your meals.  I know this sounds silly because I am sure most of you super organized type A people already do this.  Well I do not.  When I go grocery shopping I have a few dinners in mind and buy the stuff for those but have no plan on when I am going to cook said dinners.  With this life style change NOT having the meal plans makes life MUCH harder and leaves room for choosing the wrong thing because it is easier.  So PLAN YOUR MEALS!  I am working on this, but if I at least plan my next day’s meals the night before it works out for me.

#2 I need to up my physical activity.  I used to work out like crazy and I stopped.  But I do walk A TON and I thought that walking would be a good way for me to burn calories and can take the place of a work out.  Ya, not so much.  I think my body is so used to the walking that it isn’t phased by it.  I started adding in 20 minutes of Pilates and I felt a difference after just two days.  Oh and one day I took my son to the trampoline center and we bounced for 2 hours, my legs were sore after that so that was a great work out!  I also enjoy biking so I will be adding that in as well at least twice a week.

#3 Putting everything into a baggie for the day makes life A LOT easier.  I am on the go A LOT, I make sure everything for the whole day is in one baggie the night before.  In the morning I am ready for the day.  I bring a few water bottles so I have water to mix anything I need  and also to drink.

#4 YOU HAVE TO EAT.  I am not a morning person so I had a hard time with kick starting my day and getting on the right track with breakfast.  It took me a few days to get into the routine, but I think I have it now.  If I am REALLY not feeling breakfast in the morning I just drink a meal replacement shake.  But usually fruit is my go to breakfast.

The first week was tough, but I am feeling good and I am ready for week two.  Right now I am two pounds down ((Happy Dance)).  I am happy with that and hope I can continue and loose another 2 pounds (or more!) this week!
