As the air starts to chill and the days shorten, I really start craving comfort foods. Imagine my delight when my October Fearless Flyer arrived in the mail from Trader Joe’s. It was full of fabulous comfort foods and new things to try. I was heading there for a shopping trip and ventured to try new things. I created a list of my Top 10 Fall Finds and wanted to share with you.

Top 10 Trader Joe’s Fall Finds

1. Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli

The filling is a symphony of pumpkin goodness — sweet pumpkin is slathered with honey and a bit of brown sugar and molasses, then roasted, pureed, and blended with ricotta and mozzarella cheeses. This sweet-savory mixture is stuffed into colorful, square pasta — one side is orange-red like a pumpkin shell, the other side a more muted orange, like the inside of the pumpkin. Just chewy enough on the outside, smooth & rich on the inside, Honey Roasted Pumpkin Ravioli are flavorful enough that they need very little saucy embellishment. If you feel you must add, we like them with just a bit of butter (melted and browned a bit if you have the inclination)

2. Apple Cinnamon Goat Cheese

3. Spiced Cider

4. Spelt Risotto

It’s a rich, creamy, risotto-like dish, where spelt — the ancient grain also called farro — replaces the rice. The result is both luscious and delicious. This is a vegetarian dish that’s bursting with vegetables like pumpkin, zucchini, and turnip greens. The addition of garbanzo beans boosts both the protein and fiber level, and smoked provolone cheese gives the dish a lush, rich, and unique flavor that will make you think it was slow-cooked with ham or bacon — we promise it wasn’t.

5. Soft Pretzel Stick

6. Pecan Pumpkin Instant Oatmeal

7. Pumpkin Spice Chai

Based on a traditional Indian drink, we start with a chai tea blend that’s a combination of honey, vanilla, and black tea, heightened by a mélange of spices like cinnamon, anise, clove, cardamom, and ginger. In honor of Pumpkin Season, in addition to the traditional chai spices, Pumpkin Spice Chai is accentuated by pumpkin pie spices and real pumpkin. Like pumpkin pie, you can enjoy Pumpkin Spice Chaihot or cold. Unlike pumpkin pie, Pumpkin Spice Chaiis ready in moments — you just add (hot) water and enjoy!

8. Beurre Meuniere Popcorn

9. Dark Chocolate Almond Bark Thins

10. Pumpkin Butter

This doesn’t actually contain butter, but it does have a distinctively rich, butter-like consistency — partially attributable to its fruit pulp to sugar ratio, which is higher than that of jam or preserves. Pumpkin puree is cooked slowly, in small batches, with sugar and spices, so the spices have plenty of time to marry with the pumpkin. Our Pumpkin Butter is smooth and light with opulent flavor and mouth feel. In fact, it tastes much like pumpkin pie, though there are no eggs or cream in this spread, and thus no fat. Shocking, really, once you’ve tasted it.
